Dan, I think you are very fair and balanced in your presentation of the material and ideas. Tim, you have lot of great technical knowledge, just be careful about sounding too pessimistic. That can come off as a little snarky and turn listeners off. And I would suggest a triple shot of espresso before recording. :) Looking forward to the second show and will throw you guys a 5 star iTunes review!

Just a little more pep. :) You guys made some great points about Window 8. Even the CEO of Intel was recently quoted as saying it's going to flop. You guys should do a show about the inevitable decline of the PC in the global market and what that means foe companies like Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Dell, ect. In the very near future, the smart phone will be the PC of the world.

Interesting subject, talking about the decline of the PC. There is certainly a wide-range of items we could talk about as well as the hurdles Smartphones have yet to get over in order to get to that point.
The battle is already over. Smartphones for the win simply based on cost. As their costs fall, they will become the defacto form of personal computing in the world. Almost 2 3/4 billion people in China and India and that's where they will eventually discover technology.

Right right, that's not what I was referring to. I was referring to the challenges smartphones will have ahead of them if we want them to get better. Such as battery life, which is one of the biggest challenge smartphone makers will have in the next couple of years. Unless we get a breakthrough in battery technology.
Necessity is the mother of invention. If you build it they will come. Cliche but that's how this works. Oh, and SHOW ME THE MONEY! That's a great motivator as well. Here endeth todays lesson Padawan.

I recall recoding an ep of my show directly after getting in from a run, for the first 20 minutes I was talking a mile a minute :)

Well, I'm glad that I could entertain you with my comments about it. Always nice to know :P.
As far as the comment, I still stand by it but I was referring to just the hardware on the phones. Wasn't talking about ecosystems, or public opinions about companies (cause we all know how many people really like Apple), just features and hardware on the iPhone VS Android's hardware. My main point was that it was going to be pretty easy for Android to outpace iPhone if they didn't release anything big. Which they didn't. So Android now has a lot of room to breathe and hence destroy the iPhone in terms of hardware.
And yes, you were supposed to get all of that out of my comments. ;)

But in all seriousness I understood your point but what you have to realize is this isn;t a hardware war, it's a war of hearts and minds. The hardware to 99% of the users is ubiquitous as far as specs and all that techno babble. People want cache, experience, and to have what's considered cool...and that 'ain't anything made by Nokia, Research in Motion, or Samsung for the foreseeable future. Samsung will dominate in terms of raw numbers because of price but as I have pointed out in the past, Apple doesn't want to be the Ford of smart phones, they want to be Porsche.
This is why the world needs both the walled garden of iOS and the open playground that is Android. There is a certain amount of crossover but they cater for different markets at each end of the spectrum.
