NBC has launched the first trailer for their upcoming fairytale-inspired series "Grimm", which you can check out in the player below.
Starring David Giuntoli, Silas Weir Mitchell, Russel Hornsby, Sasha Roiz, Bitsie Tulloch and Reggie Lee, the series is officially described as follows.
Remember the fairy tales your parents used to tell you before bedtime? Well, those weren't stories, they were warnings.
Detective Nick Burkhardt thought he was ready for the grim reality of working homicide in Portland, Oregon. That is, until he started to see things... things he couldn't quite explain. Like a gorgeous woman suddenly transforming into a hideous hag, or an average Joe turning into a vicious troll. Then, after a panicked visit from his only living relative, Nick discovers the truth about his visions: he's not like everyone else, he's a descendant of an elite group of hunters known as "Grimms" who are charged with stopping the proliferation of supernatural creatures in the world. And so begins his new life journey - albeit a reluctant one at first - as he solves crimes with his partner who knows something about Nick has radically changed but can't quite put his finger on it. Along the way, Nick finds himself unexpectedly getting help on some of the more difficult cases from Monroe, a guy who seems normal at first but is soon revealed to be what you might call a "big bad wolf." Literally!
While the Brothers Grimm wrote fairy tales that children have adored for generations, imagine if the villains were real, and Nick was the only one who could stop them.
From executive producers David Greenwalt (Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Jim Kouf (Angel, National Treasure) comes a new world of police work where all cases have a storybook connection... but not always happily ever after.

I think I'm looking forward to this show more than any other. Though at the rate Sci-fi shows are getting axed, its hard to get overly excited. You know what I mean?
Maybe sometime in August there will be a fall TV preview podcast. Like the summer movie preview we just had a couple weeks ago. (Hint, hint.)

I caught this last night and really enjoyed it. Nice combination of funny and creepy. I think I'll keep watching.
agreed, I thought it was funny and creepy at the same time, which is hard to do. So I'll watch again!
I liked it. I thought it was alright. It's not exactly Buffy or Angel, but I'm gonna give it a fair try. So far so good.
This was ok. Don't know if I'll stick with it but will give it the Rico 3 tries. I wasn't sure what this was going be like and I don't normally do creepy/scary shows. It did make me think of Buffy and Angel even though I have only seen a handful of those shows combined.
I just watched and enjoyed it quite a bit. It has a nice vibe and works well for me since I loved Buffy and Angel. Definitely going to keep watching this one.
Yep definitely captured some of that creepy but funny Buffy and Angel vibe so this is just up my street.
I love the idea that these creatures are the basis of fairy tale creatures and that certain elements from the stories are played out in the show. Looking forward to watch creatures and stories they tackle on this one.
I didn't get that Buffy or Angel vibe personally. It didn't have that kind of humor, and I didn't really connect quickly with any of the characters. On the other hand I didn't hate them though. I'm hoping it doesn't become a formulaic series. Although supernatural it did feel a little procedural to me. Though with only one episode down it's hard to say what it's gonna be like.

Characters are going to take a while to gel. I just think finding out about the "real world" versions of fairy tale monsters is going to be interesting.
Good ratings start for "Grimm" even being up against the World Series.

I thought it had a little more of a Supernatural (the show) feel to it. That show started out a little weak as well, but I liked Sam and Dean from the beginning. That show did catch on into season 2 and 3. Grimm is in no way bad, it's just warming up I think. I'm just still on the fence a little bit, can't entirely say one way or another. Really depends how it starts to develop into the next few episodes.
Yeah you got a point about Supernatural, but more about Lore than the spiritual I suppose.

Yeah that's true. I've been wondering on that too actually. My thought is how far the "Lore" can go. Maybe I know very little about fairy tales, but are there actually enough to make a decent TV series every week. That's one of my other concerns. Then with that how are they gonna make it and keep it from being fairy tale story of the week. I just worry about it being like I said before formulaic. But I can only speculate until I see more. I'll just have to see what happens.
Pretty cool second episode. I really like it when the cop and his "wolf" buddy work together. They need to have more of that. Fun series so far.
Going off the first episodes, I would have said I enjoyed this Series the most over Once Upon A Time. However, after seeing both second episodes, I've changed my mind and prefer OUAT...but thats just on the second episodes
I enjoyed the second episode of Grimm, but not as much as the first episode. I'm going to have to stick with both series to see where they go....at least for now.
Finally caught the first two episodes.. really enjoyed both of them.. I love that we have two fairytale/fantasy series but both are extremely different from each other. Let's hope both continue for a while.
I saw the pilot tonight and was kind of...meh. It's a good concept but executed poorly. I think the writing seemed amateurish to me. Too many tired clichés in one hour of programming...just as an example: the mean doctor who harshly enforces hospital visiting regulations just as the patient is about to reveal critical information. I think I'll watch the next two episodes but this show is on my bubble for sure.
I missed the second episode but saw last nights and it was pretty good! And a nice guest spot for Nana Visitor!
I loved last night's episode.
Last night's episode was pretty fun. I can see the story arc starting to work it's way in now a little. Still enjoying this series quite a bit. Easily passed my three episode trial period.
Another good episode.
My only criticism is the poor quality CGI "make-up" on the actors playing the creatures. It is a little jarring in this episode, almost like they had a lot less budget for it than in the pilot where it looked reasonable.
I hope they consider switching to "real" makeup and use morphing effects as in Angel / Buffy.
Hm, I lost my copy of episode 2 in the great iPad crash of iOS 5.0.1, anyone know if these most recent episodes are streaming or on demand? I think I'll give this show another chance.

Believe it or not I'm kind of digging this show. I enjoyed the latest episode, it gave me quite the buzz.

Haven't seen the episode yet but I have a feeling that's a corny pun ;)
I'm afraid it's starting to lose me. I can tell how much I like a show by how much I pay attention and this last episode I was busy with other things while watching. It's a good show, I'll keep watching for a few more episodes, but you know I'm watching Fringe at that time and so focused when I do if I feel I missed anything I rewind a watch the scenes again. I'll keep watching though, but can't promise I will have any idea what is happening next episode.
Good news for Grimm fans.. NBC gave them a full season pick up.

I'm not really seeing it that way. I loved the last episode that was sort of different take on the pigs vs. wolves. And we got to see that actress from Eureka too as the biker girl.

It doesn't seem to be developing much, more like a monster of the week show which is a shame. Also I really can't stand the cheap looking CGI monster faces!

Yep the pilot gave that impression. I thought we were going to explore this and I hope we still do otherwise it's basically another cop procedural.
This isn't CSI-Portland. Even the "X-Files" had many 'monsters of the week' type of shows. I'm enjoying the series and feel like we are learning a bit more each week, just like this guy who has just found out he is a Grimm. Keep in mind the show only started at the end of October. They obviously can't let a lot out yet about everything we are seeing hints of.
I didn't think I would get hooked into this show but i have been enjoying it and plan on sticking with it. i also enjoyed seeing the actress from Euerka.
I like it. I'm not confident with NBC though. They don't seem to get behind their scifi and fantasy shows all that much. I know it's been a long time but I still miss seaquest and earth2!
Episodes are getting better - last night was kick butt - about time. :)
I'm enjoying the series quite a bit too. It's getting better and more interesting each week.

Yeah, I just watched the season finale too. I was worried for a bit they were going to leave a lot hanging until next season but they wrapped quite a bit up. Pretty satisfying finale.
