I am in the process of reading Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land.  I loved Heinlein growing up, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, being one of my favorites, but I have to say this book has been a grind to read.  Very slow developing.  I'm about 1/3 the way thru and already looking forward to another book.

From here to the eyes and the ears of the 'Verse, that's my motto or might be if I start having a motto.

I'm nearly halfway through Harry Potter 6.  I just finished Order of the Phoenix last week and just went right onto Half-Blood Prince.  I forgot how good these books are.

I'm worried that I'll run across spoilers for The Deathly Hallows, so I'm trying to get through all the books ASAP.

Also I'm "reading" the books.  That is, I'm listening to the unabridged audiobooks on my iPod.  (Thanks to my local library!)

Aren't the books on CD just the best. I have them all and listen to them every few months from Sorcerers Stone to Half Blood Prince.

I'm currently listening to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I physically read the book in three days when it came out last month. Now I'm taking my time and really enjoying listening to it.

I'm reading Darth Bane-Paths of Destruction. Very cool, very Sith!

Yes, Jim Dale is one of the best readers I've heard.  Him and David Ogden Stiers on the Clancy books are my favorites.

I think I am going to go pick that one up today and start reading.

I'm reading a book called Spin State by Chris Moriarty.

It's about a future where most of humanity no longer lives on Earth. They created clones to help with mundane tasks, and the clones broke off and "perfected" themselves, calling themselves the Syndicate. Now they compete with humanity for toeholds in the universe. There are Artificial Intelligences, a wireless Universal network called the Spin, and cyborg-enhanced soldiers to fight against the Syndicate.

Here's a pretty decent review, giving it 8 out of 10. http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/reviews/books/0-553-58624-6.html

It's a little dense, but very good. He's got a second one called Spin Control, which I will be picking up shortly.

Currently I'm reading one of the latest Star Trek: TNG books called THE BURIED AGE. It's a story about the years between Picard's command of the Stargazer and the Enterprise. So far I am really enjoying it! Christopher L. Bennett is a very good writer and really draws you into his stories.

I just finished reading Judas Unchained by Peter F. Hamiltion, second book of the Commonwealth Saga. The first is Pandora's Star. Very good hard sci fi. Interesting world, interesting take on space exploration as well. They use wormholes that trains travel through to get from world to world. Becuase of this as a society humanity never really develops star ships....Not until the events of Pandora's Star, that is. Very good books, hard to put down once you get into them, though it took me awhile to get interested at first.

Locutus

I have Pandora's Star. I haven't gotten to it yet.

I finished reading A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore and I must say that I liked it quite a lot.  The book was funny and had its warm, touching moments.  It revolves around Charlie who becomes a Death Merchant (kinda' like Death but not exactly; he's more like "Santa's Helper of Death"). Here's a small excerpt from a review at About.com:

"It's all spectacularly funny and yet there's a beating heart to Moore's tale of dying and rejuvenation. Charlie's interactions with the dying, antics aside, reflect its author's genuine warmth for his fellow man. When Charlie visits a woman dying of liver cancer, his reassurances that it's not her fault are touching. When his mother is dying, her final playful moments are sweet and poignantly true, as her hospice nurse explains:

It happens again and again. I've seen people come out of a coma and sing their favorite songs and all I can tell you is to enjoy it. People see the light come back into eyes that have been dull for months, and they start to place hope on it. It's not a sign of getting well, it's an opportunity to say goodbye. It's a gift."

I recommend this book.  I'll be reading another one of his books in the near future; it's titled "You Suck" (it's about vampires).

Just finished Making Money by Terry Pratchett, a good book but not as good as Going Postal.

I've got 3 GamesWorkshop Black Library books on the go, the Genevieve omnibus (I've finished the first book but got bogged down in the second), the Blackhearts Trilogy (again into the second book but Making Money came out, so its been put down). Finally the potentially last ever Gaunts Ghosts novel just turned up so I'm reading that one for now. Black Library aren't exactly literary masterpieces but they are action packed and have some strong characters in them, plus they are usually a quick read.

Half way through Harry Potter 7 now. After that I plan to catch up on the Star Wars Legacy of the Force series, I've only read the first three books. Also I just ordered Star Wars: Vault (http://www.amazon.ca/Star-Wars-Vault-Treasures-Memorabilia/dp/0061257311). Though I wouldn't call that much of read I'm super excited to go through it.

KingIsaacLinksr

Not reading much right now.  Didn't bring any books with me which might have been a mistake...oh well.
