I have to admit I'm listening to some Christina Aguilera this morning.  She really has a strong voice.  She's got a great new song called "Keeps Getting Better."

Song is here....no real video - just an image.  But I love the beat!  Rico must dance!!!

Nice!  I've heard that song online before someplace, but I can't remember where...  Is the "all the ducks are swimming in the water" bit a sample from an old movie or song?

Rico

I added the new Christina Aguilera song to the Pop up music player.

"The sample of the man singing 'All the ducks are swimming in the water...' is from a recording by John 'Jack' Langstaff, a well-respected music educator, founder of the Christmas Revels, and singer of traditional and folk music.

Ps had to search for that answer. You remember my stag weekend film, well the music at the start of that is called The Staunton lick by Lemon Jelly.

Tears for Fears - "Year Of The Knife"

This is from the Going To California VHS that never quite made it to DVD. Pity. One of the best later videos of one the best, if not the best groups of the 1980's. Tears for Fears was the musicians group, when most bands of the era where done doing their shows they were said to go whereever they where playing to catch the end of their set. Great singing, musicianship, and writing both in the studio and live. Believe it or not, after doing a whole show at this level this was their encore! What a band.

This is the year of the knife! --- -- Check it out....

Ahh Christina. I love this girl and her voice is just so strong and lovely, some of her songs can be quite emotional. She has also matured to become a lovely looking young lady whereas she used to be a little trashy. (Trashy has it's good points though ) :biggrin
You could learn something from Mr Spock Doctor..... Stop thinking with your glands"

This has been on heavy "rotation" on my ipod lately-

Song- "Rubberband Man"
Artist- The Spinners
Why-
Groovy, upbeat music that doesn't take a whole lot of thinking.  Perfect "time off" music, in my opinion! :biggrin

The song is basically a story about a carefree dude blessed with good luck- he has the uncanny ability to unknowingly make everything that he comes into contact with come out alright.

Oh, and he likes to dance around and play with rubber bands.  Any of you guys remember this song?

I have danced to this song like a mad man when i was younger. Back in 95 i used to go to a wicked club that played this kind of music, man it was good times.

I listened to Me First And The Gimme Gimmes's version of Good Bye Earl,  Jolene and Riders In The Sky.

Good Bye Earl reminds me of my pal Angela and I... Except for the whole abuse and killing the husband thing. LOL. I loved the Dixie Chicks and always like their version, but this one rocks too. I love their take on popular songs, which is often very humorous. Jolene was originally recorded by Dolly Parton and Riders In The Sky has been recorded by many people, but my favorite version has been the one recorded by Peggy Lee.... I The Gimme Gimme's version was great. You can buy their albums on iTunes...They have a whole bunch of videos on youtube, but stray away from the "Live Show videos" if you're sensitive to profanity. While the songs are usually free of obscenities, their chatter between live songs is not.

For some reason when the Good Bye Earl video is played here, there's an error that says it's not available... I checked and you can still play it on youtube. Weird.

The error is because embedding is disabled by whoever posted the video on YouTube.  There is a little comment on the page on YouTube that will say that (kind of on the right).
