I'm going to have to agree with Angela. When I learned to not care, I had to beat girls off. Then again it's also a younger thing. By the time they become women, I think they grow out of that, but it also might be a reason that some women are attracted to the bad boys even later in life. I also wouldn't say like crap, I'd say keep them at a distance. Some younger guys are too possessive and I'm thinking that young girls don't like to be smothered.

Hummm...were they the RIGHT girls??? Respect goes a long way. Don't drool over the girl you are interested in, but do be a gentleman. Where I come from, men open the door for women, tip their hats, offer their chairs when all seats are taken and say "yes ma'am and no ma'am"... Guys who had no manners were of no interest to me. But I'm from the sticks so I guess I'm backwards :D

Yes...smothering sucks. Don't be a Klingon (too attached)...but then again, don't be a Klingon (barbarian). ;)

Glad you liked the show. Thanks everyone for your comments and don't forget to vote for next month's episode...the poll is at the top of this thread, just under "friends online". :)

They most certainly were not the RIGHT girls. Most of them were in a range from slightly crazy to totally off their tree.

So...being a jerk gets you wacko women.  Single men...listen up...don't treat women poorly, despite what Angela and Holly recommended. :D

Just listened to the new Twilight/Buffy podcast. Loved it. Still don't care much for vampires (Sorry Angela), but the discussion was very interesting.

And after seeing the new Trek I can say, without a doubt, that in a barfight I would want James Kirk, Spock (did he let loose on Kirk or what?!?), Ronon Dex, and Rocky Balboa by my side.

Excellent bar fight choices my friend. ;)

Hey! Wacko women need love too!

Archangela

I feel I need to clarify. There is obviously no formula. My husband is the most respectful, wonderful, amazing, superman of a man I could ever ask for. But when we started dating...he played it so cool like he didn't care. I even remember getting an email from him that basically said, "well, nice to know you, bye." Just before that I had a series of over anxious wonderful men that would do anything for me, and I lost interest so fast. It was nice to date someone that didn't show all his cards up front and kept his distance. It made me want more. And in the beginning, it helps if she wants more. :)

20 minutes in so far and and interesting discussion. I'm not sure I'm sold on the film or books from what I've heard so far...but then I never was a teenage girl.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Keep in mind that we didn't say it was the best movie we have ever seen. We're just saying we were entertained. :) Rent it if you want to be entertained. It's not bad.  :innocent

No...but in three and a half years I'll be the FATHER of a teenage girl. That's probably worse...maybe I need to see this?

Good show, fun as always, but still not sold on vampires.

I mean I've _read_ Interview with a Vampire, I've seen half of Nosferatu, Blade and Shadow of the Vampire (and a good part of Buffy and Angel), I've seen the musical Dance of the Vampire (don't care much for musicals, either) and even played the PC game Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. I was very unhappy when my pen&paper RPG group started playing the Vampire RPG the game was based on. I am not able to connect to these creatures (do you have to be goth?), so I left the group. Still miss RPG a lot, that was fun.

I'm a bit disappointed with miss I-give-Marina-Sirtis-my-autograph, but she didn't ask for German comments, so I guess it's alright if she didn't want to read them. (Although I would have made a decent translation of the German text or skipped it altogether and written more, had I known.)

Looking forward to the next show, I hope I'll be able to contribute a comment relevant to the topic. :)

LOL. I played VTM for years. I can sell you on vampires in two words.

Peter pan.

Another two: Lost Boys.

It is the temptation of eternal youth. How far are you willing to go to live? Life constantly feeds on life to survive.

I think you might want to watch Lost Boys, Innocent blood, and once bitten on an alternate take on vampires.

It just hit me I talked about a forum member in third person, I'm sorry.

Not sold. :)
Peter Pan - alright, but vampires are different.
I wish I knew the movies you recommend, but vampirism and eternal life as I know it is a curse.

At least the vampirism according to Interview with an Vampire. You are frozen in this bubble, like an insect in amber and can't even change your haircut, as it will look the same the next evening. You can't drink or eat, you cant have sex, you can't have a walk in the sun, it will always be cold and dark, you will not be able to attend social gatherings. Every normal person around you is prey and not better than animals.

And eternal life is even worse. There will come a day, or better night, when you have seen, heard and read everything. There will be nothing original, no surprises. You get tired of meeting new people, you will get tired of other vampires, it's always the same stories. You will stop to fall in love, either your loved one dies or the love itself. You look at the latest 'in' thing the mortals find so important and you will be bored. They are so childish, they behave strange, they know nothing compared to you, and they will do the same mistakes over and over again. Empires rise and fall to ashes. Nothing matters anymore, decades hush by as if they were mere days, everyday chores will become a nuisance.

What did I miss (besides seeing the Enterprise in the 24th century, that would be so worth it! ;) )?

see that's a problem that I have with some movie vampires. Dracula for instance had no problem going out into the sun. I think that while it is supposed to be a curse, it all depends on how you handle it. Even Lestat eventually learns to move in the sun.

I also think that enternal life wouldn't be boring. there are just too many things to see and do to think that there is ever a chance of seeing or doing everything. music changes constantly. new books are written. New things are discovered. From my perspective, if I was a vampire, I'd try to join NASA.
