does anyone write Sci fi here?  here's some Enterprise fanfic I wrote for the Strange New Worlds contest, last year:

Per Aspera: Disaster on Titan!

Trip had reluctantly accepted appointment as Lead Engineer to Earth Star Fleet's OSET ("Omega Science, Exploration and Training") mission to Titan, after much prodding by his good friend Commander Jonathan Archer, leader of the mission. He wanted to get this so-called science and training mission mess over with in a hurry, and get back to Jupiter Station's Main Engineering Section. There was still much work to be done with Captain Jeffries' engineering team to get the NX program's latest prototype running efficiently for its upcoming Warp 5 engine trials. He never could remember which he heard first, the scanner's urgent sensor alarm or the sharp, cracking-ice sounds. Trip's heart skipping a beat, he instinctively leaped backward, swinging the sensor array canister behind himself and up the slope for balance---but too late. The crater's icy crust cracked and crumbled underneath his weight, heaving and snapping open as a cryo-volcanic geyser erupted beneath his feet, blasting him with a half-frozen, half-liquid slush and hail and knocking him off his feet. Fear shot through him as he fell, scrambling, sliding on the quickly freezing semi-liquid slush exuding from the geyser's surface vent; the fear very nearly dwarfing the pain he suddenly felt as a melon sized ball of ice blown from the geyser slammed into the side of his head. His head and neck whiplashing, his momentum barely slowed by the broken ice, Trip dropped like a rag doll and slid down. His right side was half-submerged in the lake at the crater's bottom. The pitter-patter sound of the geyser's icy crystals raining down upon his helmet visor strangely reminded him of a soft Florida rain as he quickly lost consciousness. Lieutenant Charles "Trip" Tucker III, soon-to-be Chief Engineer of the Enterprise NX-01, had just engineered himself into a mighty fix......
