Well, I have been impressed listening to the ready rooms. You all seem like the same kind of people who I deem "visionaries". People dedicated to the dream. I can imagine where you all would go if you had the proper tools at your disposal, the distances would be limitless.

It is fun to pretend to walk around the USS Arabella, to write the stories of your characters in detail, and have a great time doing it... But imagine logging on to a virtual world, appearing in your cabin, and walking around the ship, exploring space outside, all with like minded individuals as yourself, contributing to the RPG in more ways than posting. Imagine creating everything down to the finest detail, and role playing your heart out.

Long before I found your pod cast, I started construction on something within a virtual world known as Secondlife. I had wandered aimlessly in this virtual world, filled with wonderous content created by its residents, for its residents. For months I had no idea what to do... then I had a dream.

In september I started construction on the USS Emily Lynn, NX-61907... And its been intresting what we have turned out in that time - part time. Its been intresting the people I have met, who are all living the dream... being a starfleet officer.

Since I started the ship, my small crew and I have mergered with a larger organization known as United Federation Starfleet, who is roleplaying the year 2383, and the first federation outpost within the delta quadrant. As we come closer to the dream, I am actively trying to inform like minded people of what we are about to do:

A living breathing Federation starship, on a 24/7 RP.

This is all possible due to the totally free client which is offered by Linden Labs, which connects its users to what is known as "the grid." a place where people, known as avatars, live.

Secondlife has NO Purpose, no goal - only those you set for yourself. There is NO limit to what you can achieve in secondlife, and I just wanted to let you all know about this - perhaps for season 8.

Not only can you build anything you want, but you can BE anything you want - look any way you want.

I know I have been sketchy in this post. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.

Very neat stuff.  I toyed around in Second Life a few times.  I find the interface kind of clunky at times.  But those ships pictures look neat!

The legendary Rico...

Good to have your valued feedback here on this!

Secondlife has been known to be clunky, but for the most part, the company has come under a new CEO, and they are working on the clunkiness of the interface, as well as the bug issues within the programming itself. There have been tremendous improvements in the year I have been in SL.

I also must point out that I built the models you see above with no previous modeling experience in any way shape or form.

Great to see feedback!

Hello Lexii Lane. Welcome to the forums! I'm glad you listen to the Ready Room. Our  game is a blend of fan fiction, where writers collaborate on creating a sort of "novel" if you will, and role playing. We're working on transitioning it to audio dramas and have often talked about taking our role playing experience to Star Trek Online, if the new owners ever actually do anything with it.
One thing we all have in common is that we love to write and read the stories we create... and that's part of the fun for us. So I don't think we could ever completely transition to a 3D environment, but it might be fun to check it out sometime. Perhaps you should try out our version of role playing too. We could always use more writers. :)
Thanks for the posting the topic and showing us your pictures. I had no idea that Second Life had that capability...

I have considered joining your writers and becoming a part of the fan fiction, and perhaps one day I can help contribute - it would be an honor!

Well, another idea on how to expand audio dramas... use SL as a studio enviroment. Record videos, and sync them to your audio dramas.

Check out our story so far.... See if you like the writing style.
I will keep Second Life in mind. Maybe after you join you can eventually introduce it to us.

I'm not much of a gamer, but I like what you have created.
You've accomplished a lot in a few short months.
