I have a day out coming up tomorrow...

http://www.doctorwhoexperience.com/index.php

I'm not sure how I engineered this exactly but, in honour of being nearly a year older, my wife's paid for me to go into London tomorrow to play in the TARDIS.

Our eldest daughter is going with me (yes, she does have a legal day off school!) although she seems to think that I'm going to accompany her ;) Whatever. If having a child with me makes it seem a more credible adult passtime to some people (including her), who am I to argue.

I'm not really sure what to expect, I think there's an element of simulation/story to it although it's obviously aimed at families rather than adults. Whatever it is, it should be a fun day out. If I can find the time to put together a report for the podcast after the event then be sure that I'll do that (but don't expect a comment from the TARDIS control room - I'll be too busy pressing buttons... err... I mean I'll be stopping Ruth pressing buttons!)

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

My wife and daughter were in London yesterday.  I know someone was begging her mom to take her to the DW Experience.  I haven't heard if they went yet or not.
Reavers!

Well if they did, I hope they had a good time and if they didn't, I hope they don't get jealous of those of us who do get there!

It looks like I never reported back on this one.

It was a good morning. All the better for being a school day and therefore quite a quiet event. It's structured as an interactive 'adventure' with the Doctor, passing through a few stes and playing along with the story presented on screen in each area.

I think the coolest bit is the entry to the TARDIS. Walking through those blue police box doors sent a shiver down my spine.

Included in the tour is a bit of 3D video and a few 'real' Daleks. To my surprise, I found the video quite effective (compared to my one 3D cinema experience which was really poor).

An enoyable tour over all.

Of course, after that there was the exhibition including props and characters both new and old. The console from the David Tennant TARDIS was one of the highlights with the console from Peter Davison's as a close runner up. I think we spent rather a lot of time wandering around the room there which is a bit of a surprise given that my daughter probably didn't recognise half of the stuff on display. Still, she didn't complain too loudly...

A good day out was had by all. I wouldn't necessarily do it a second time but it was well worth doing once. (If it's still running when you get over here, Kenny, you may want to give it a look.)
