OK Brits, I'm hoping to move in the next couple of weeks (which is good) but I have a dilema (which is bad).

Where do I get my TV (assuming I can still afford the subscription)?

Currently I've got a Sky+ box which is fine for what it does. The new house, however, is already completely Virgin fed for phone, TV and internet. So, I either need to get a Sky dish added to the house as soon as I move in or I need to switch to Virgin pretty quickly (so I don't miss anything!).

Personally, I'm tempted by the TiVO (which is a Virgin exclusive) but I've heard bad things about their connectivity etc (and Dangelus' internet dropouts).

Any opinions?

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

This must mean you sorted out your real estate issues?

Still pending contract exchange but it should be done this week. There's still time for it to all fall apart :(

My friend Peter has the virgin Tivo and he loves it, but on the other hand I have heard virgin broadband is very poor.

Yes, that's the worry. Dan's got it and you can tell from his Twitter stream just how often it doesn't work.

I have had the Virgin service since 1994, and apart from the odd issue in the past am very happy with it.  :)  I am extremely happy with the Broadband; currently at 100 mb, and going to 120 very soon.  There is no 'throttling' on 100 mb!!

I was tempted to get Tivo, but currenly have the V+ box.  As a potential new customer you'll probably get it installed for free!

Mike, to be fair, when Virgin broadband works it is SUBPERB. it isn't the cheapest around standalone but if you are getting a full TV package with Tivo and phone line then it is the best value for money.

For years I have had a rock steady connection but in the last 6 months or so there have been a couple of dropouts (one was for 3 days!) and Virgin customer service are absolutely useless.
The last time there was an issue I had to escalate so high that I had heads of department ringing me and I got a free month.

Its a decent trade off. I am on 30Mb which is soon to be doubled for FREE as well. I don't have Tivo because I'm a tech geek that uses PCs for digital media but it is the best box out there for the general consumer at the moment, better than Sky HD.

My advise is, if you are going for the complete package then go for it. Tell them you are switching from Sky and you'll get a great deal too.
