Character History:
Born in the infirmary of the Federation Embassy on Kronos, Miyamoto's upbringing was surrounded by a bizzare blend of Federation idealisim, Klingon martial philosophy, and Japanese samurai culture. His father, a diplomat and historian had long belived that the Klingon Empire was a spiritual cousin of ancient samurai Japan and had managed to achieve an influential post in the Federation embassy to the Klingon Empire where he could study the cultural paralells and differences up close.
His father took advantage of the many opportunities to study intercultural interatction that raising his son in the Klingon system provided. This resulted in a young man who belived himself to be the very personification of the very best aspects of both ancient earth samurai culture as well as the Klingon martial philosophy that so closley mirrors it in many ways.
Upon coming of age he eagerly joined the Klingon Defense Force and took a Klingon wife. He quickly rose within the ranks and was considered an excellent officer, but his human heritage kept him from rising to command. At first this did not bother him and he enjoyed the opportunties for glory and battle that came with being a junior officer. Only when other officers who went through the academy with him began reciving thier own commands did he begin to chaffe with the restrictions his race placed upon him.
Despite his growing unease, he stayed within the empire for his wife and the two children they had together in between his tours of duty. Lorisha chose to take a mothers leave from the service to raise thier children on Kronos while Miyamoto continued to struggle against the prejudice he faced as the first full human to serve as a Klingon Warrior.
This continued until the day of his eldest sons coming of age ceremony. Mere hours after the two proud parents participated in his coming of age, the news of war spread through the streets of Kronos. The Klingon - Cardassian war had begun, and as one the familly went to war, all but thier youngest son who was not yet old enough to go to war.
Not willing to stay behind Lorrisha resumed her former comission and followed her husband and son to war. All three served on different vessels during the short but brutal conflict, and all three distiguished themselves in battle. Mokar especially set himself apart by single handedly clearing the engineering deck of a cardassian cruiser preventing it from executing a self destruct and allowing its intact capture.
Miyamoto engaged in numerous hand to hand engagements leading raids both during boarding actions and planetary invasions. He suffered several wounds and finally was serously wounded when his ship was disabled by the USS Defiant during it's rescue of the Cardasian Council.
Almost at the same moment that Miyamoto himself was buried in burning wreckage on the shattered bridge of his ship, his wife was killed in the brutal hand to hand combat surrounding the Cardassian capitol. By the time Miyamoto had recovered sufficiently from his wounds to regain conciousness he was forced to confront the terrible news of his wifes death.
Too badly burned to continue fighting, Miyamoto was sent home to recover. During the time at home with his parents and younger son , the man struggled with his wifes death and with his own failure to rise to command. It was at this dark time in his life he was forced to confront the most difficult decision he would ever make.
When the word of War with the Federation reached the Federation Embassy on Kronos his parents were ordered to leave along with the rest of the embassy staff. When he saw how the Klingon escort detachement was treating them, Miyamoto and his youngest son went along to make sure there were no "accidents" along the way.
During the trip to the Federation border Miyamoto, still only half recovered from his wounds, was challenged in the messhall to a duel by a drunken Warrior, confident that no human could possibly match him with a blade. Although his reputation as a master swordsman was well known on his previous vessel, the ship transporting his parents was from another sector and thus had not heard of his skill.
Even wounded, Miyamoto was more than a match for the Klingon, and killed him in  a fair match duel of honor. Unfortunately for Miyamoto, the Klingon he killed was the son of a member of the High Council and hier to head the familly of Motok a powerful and prestigious familly. Miyamoto knew that not only would they come for him, but for his son afterhim as well according to Klingon tradition.
Thus it was that when the USS ________ met them at the border to transport the ambassador and the rest of the embassy staff back to federation space, Miyamoto and his younger son went with them. As Miyamoto expected, a Klingon Attack cruiser comanded by Motock struck the _______ only hours after the passengers transfered.
Miyamoto offered to have himself beamed over, but Captain Bell refused, steadfast that no one who had come under his protection would be forcibly removed from it! The battle was fierce and the _________ suffered many casualties before destroying Motock and his ship. At one point, with the bridge in flames and the tactical officer lying dead Miyamoto, who had been brought to the bridge during the communication with Motok, took control of the tactical station and allowed Bell and his crew to finish off thier foe.
Bell was so impressed with Miyamotos skill and bravery that he sponsored the mans entry into starfleet acadamy despite his age. Miyamoto, a graduate of the Klingon Defense Forces own academy quickly recived a comission in star fleet and returned to the USS _________ at Captain Bell's request.
Now , although he struggles with leaving the empire, and his strained relations with his oldest son pain him deeply,  the fact that the Federation and Empire are allies once again helps him to accept his place in starfleet. Regardless of that, however, he is now bound to Captain Bell by a blood oath of loyalty and will follow the captain into the gates of hell if so ordered.
At 47 Miyamoto knows he is too old now to have a real opportunity for command and is content to serve in the tactical post, on whatever ship Bell comands for the rest of both mens career.
