Now I'm scared  :ohmy
I have gone and thrown myself in at the deep end. Hope I don't let the team down. Now to make up a character.  :ohmy

Don't worry, it's easy I promise.

Imagine being in my shoes. I have to write a decent plot for you all ;)

Any guidelines on how to make up a character?

If you go to the character profile section of the RPG you can see examples, several people have done characters already.

ryanlb

Thanks.  I hadn't seen the RPG section yet.

Also, I hate to show my ignorance (and I'm not sure if this would be the best place to do so), but I am comparatively new to Star Trek.  An ensign is the lowest commissioned officer rank, correct?
I want to choose a dept to work for, so I'd like to know what the various depts do.
What would be some of the duties of Engineering vs Ops?
Thanks.

I would like to be either the chief medical officer or councellor or a security officer up to you as I have a diploma in Law Enforcement a degree in Psychology and Criminology  a  Masters Counselling and an Degree in Canon Law and Hold the rank of Lt Col in the United Chaplancy Service

Any Ideas of a character would be great and suggestions on a profile, perhaps you could send me an example with the duties of whatever position you think would be suitable for me with my background

thanks.

Hey Iceman.. that's one great thing about RPG, you get to pretend you are something that you may not really be. Background isn't really important here. If you wish to be our Chief Medical Officer than that's great since we don't have any medical people at all. You can make up anything, be anyone, be any species (within Star Trek universe), fashion your character after a character from Trek, it's really unlimited.

The first thing to do is create a character's name and species, and decide which department you would like to be part of... that's it. You're character will grow with the story. If you don't know about your character's past history don't worry about it that can be added later. Right now just to get started we need everyone who wants to participate to create your character, species and department.

A personal note if you are having trouble coming up with species for your character just make your character human, that tends to make things easier.

Yes Ensign is the lowest ranked officer.. as for duties in Engineering as opposed to Ops. Engineering duties will obviously deal with the engines and keeping the ship flying. Ops/Operations keeps all ships system flowing smoothly (ie Harry Kim from Voyager). I'll see if I can find official position descriptions for everyone.

This is suppose to be fun, it's just a bunch of people getting together to write a really cool Star Trek adventure... that's all. Just have fun...

darthcooley

This sounds like it would be fun never played anything like this but you have to start some where.. If avliable I like security/tactical if they are taken I would be up for anything :r2d2line

Picard_delta_5

ok... looks like u managed to get me back on the forums for this.... I want in....  I would love to be involved in Command, but it looks like Capt / first officer are taken... I could still spire head a command / ops (Data type of character)... That would be great....

I wouldn't mind being military either.... Like a M.A.C.O / Elite Force Team Leader.... I don't know if you guys thought about a position like that at all....

wow... again, great idea... i look forward to seeing how this all plays out.... (i know i havent been around for a while, but if this whole thing is as cool as it sounds, you can count on me being around)

Sorry about the Conversation post with Pedro... I didn't know what to do with it, we talked on the Chat room for a while so I put it into it. I will clean it up next time.

Seemed ok to me.

Really, it was pretty good, it was easy to follow and flowed like what it was...a real conversation.

I think I'd like to pop in there with you some time and have a chat like that.

Geekyfanboy

The conversation was awesome.. I would have gone through and replaced the fourm names with the character names and remove the times..

Four Lights

Ok sounds good! :D Enoch! We need to set up a conversation meeting! I was thinking though if you had MSN or Windows live messenger, it would be easier? It doen't say the times, and you can change the names very easy.
