A few more bits of Trek movie casting news.  Scotty and Sulu!

According to Variety, 37-year-old British actor Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) has won the role of the new Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the upcoming Star Trek movie prequel from director/producer J.J. Abrams.

Pegg, who is also a writer, worked with Abrams before in Mission: Impossible 3, in which he played IMF technician Benji Dunn.

The role was played by the late James Doohan in The Original Series TV Series and movies.

The original report can be found here:  http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117973913.html?categoryId=13&cs=1.

Plus, according to Trek Movie Report and the Hollywood Reporter, 35-year-old Korean born actor John Cho (American Pie) is the new Hikaru Sulu in the movie.

Sulu was, of course, played by George Takei in the TOS series and movies.

Cho starred as Harold in the cult hit Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle and is reprising the role for the sequel.

According to Hollywood Reporter, "the lead roles remaining to be cast are Christopher Pike, the first captain of the Enterprise, and Kirk's parents."

Interesting stuff.

John Cho will always be the MILF guy to me.

I am confident that Pegg will do honor to the role.

I would of preferred Paul McGillion (Beckett) from Stargate: Atlantis as Scotty.  First, he looks more the part and second he really is a Scotsman.  There's a great interview with him on the most recent "Slice of Sci-Fi" podcast.

How does that rank for this type of movie, is that kind of low 150 million

For a "Star Trek" movie it's pretty sweet.  More than any other they have done.  Should be more than enough to make it look amazing!
