I think that some show need to take more risks and killing people off is a great start. This is why I love LOST. They do not hesitate to kill people off!
Ripley: Ash. Any suggestions from you or Mother?
Ash: No, we're still collating.
Ripley: [Laughing in disbelief] You're what? You're still collating? I find that hard to believe.

Tasha Yar was better dead than alive.  Her charictor wasn't very important and killing her off made a huge moment that changed the show.

I'm not a Wesley hater.  I think that after season 2 he didn't have enough to do.  But they kept him until season 4.  Didn't care for that.  But I did like the game.  And couldn't stand that season 7 episode he did where he threw away his starfleet cariear.

Killing him off would have been better then the poor red shirts

I never understood the Wesley haters.. I for one really enjoyed his character.

I am with you Kenny, I like Wesley, and wished he never got such a rough ride from the fans. The trend with killing of characters these days on shows does add some risk, but I also like watching Characters develop through the years, and would have wished more for Wesley. I guess realistically, he had to go to the academy, but felt they could have worked him more into the series later on then what they did. Finishing his story the way they did, I had no problems, as he found a higher calling then starfleet. Part of me wishes he would have continued on with starfleet, and maybe they could have had the Wesley Character in Voyager, think that would have added a lot to both the Voyager series and the Wesley Character, but that is just my opinion, a Wesley fan :)

When Kirk's son was killed in the third movie, it was a shocking and dramatic moment.  I didn't hate David, but felt that his death made more of a memorable impact on the audience then anything he did.
