I wish it were, I believe last year my city had 36 murders, and I think we are on similar pace for this year. As always, some are really disturbing, and we have our share of gang murders.

In Oklahoma, you can get a permit to carry a gun as long as you have a clean background and complete a course.  I've taken it and have a permit, though I rarely carry a gun.

Oklahoma saw a drop in the number of violent crimes shortly after this went into effect.  I think this is a good thing because it makes it dangerous to be a mugger or a rapist or murder.  And I think honest law abiding citizens have the right to protect themselves.
