Wow life is so crazy right now.

Nathan, my oldest son, graduates from High School AND College with his AA degree on Friday night.  He was involved in a program called "running start"   I wish they would have had that when I was his age.  Ah, to have the first two years of college paid for would have been nice.  We have a big BBQ and party for him on Saturday.  That happens to be my 22nd wedding anniversary with Amy.  So we are busy this week.

My second son Andrew passed his driving test and got his license.  I taught him how to use a clutch last week and watched him take my truck to work on Monday.  He drove out of the driveway lurching and I took a deep breath and tried not to think about it!  :)

My daughter will be a teenager in six months, so I will have three of them.  I don't feel too old.    :-\

Oh how time flies.

It's amazing how things change as the kids get older.  The house gets a lot quieter when they are out and about.

I have been and always will be, your friend.

Wow...congrats to all the Moyers for all their milestones and achievements!

I've been thinking the same thing lately. Five years ago I never would have thought I'd be where I'm at right now.

In the last five years I've:

*met a great girl an married her
*Graduated from University
*Gotten two jobs in my field
*Moved twice (having never moved before in my lifetime)
*Become an uncle

and many other things...

The thing that freaks me out sometimes is this:

I met my wife at a bar when she was visiting a mutual friend Montreal. She was tired and was very close to not coming out the night I met her. Then she would have gone back to Toronto. If not for that ONE singular event, we would have never met and I would not be the person I am today. I don't know why, but that freaks me right out.

You never know where life will take you, but once you're there you can't imagine being anywhere else.

Life does have a way of zooming past really fast at times. I know for myself I am going to be 40 in a few months, and I feel it was just like yesterday that I was in my 20's. I know right now I am going through some changes in that my wife and I are wanting to move into a house, I suspect the next few months are going to feel really long, and then like a blur. I feel a little scared right now as we are taking a big step, but I am hoping it works out, though Mother Nature threw me a bit of a curveball earlier in the week.
I do find over the past few years, my perspective on things have changed. But alos as they saying goes, the more things change, the more they stay the same, and a lot of things about me are the same as they always have been.
Thats great Rick that your Kids are starting a new phase of their lives, I am sure there will be lots of exciting times ahead for your family. Billybob, I agree, sometimes it blows me away, one event can change the course of your life.

Congrats Rick. Yeah, I remember my mother teaching me to drive a stick shift. That wasn't stressful at all, to either of us... ;)  It wasn't easy to learn to drive a standard, especially with my little brother and sister laughing each time I ground the gears.

Changes...

In the past five years I became an aunt to the cutest little clone of my younger sister. Karlee just turned four on May 28th. She's a dare devil. My dad  just bought her a pony. They go on horseback rides together. He actually caught her riding her horse backwards! He said, "what are you doing? You're supposed to be facing the head." Karlee said, "But I like to watch from this direction." LOL. Kids. My sister is about to have her second child in a few days. A little boy. I'm going to be an aunt again!

Since becoming an aunt, I have started planning my own family. Maybe next year I'll be a mother to be.

One of our biggest changes was hard earned. Dave and I are two months away to being debt free. Neither of us have grand incomes, we just live modestly and are very careful of what we spend. We had to learn that the hard way, after being laid off a few years after we were married.

I'll have been out of college for 10 years this coming December, and I just paid off my school loan. Thankfully a scholarship took care of most of my education but we did have to pay for the rest somehow... paying it off felt really good. :)

I met a very good friend three years ago. Before I met Angela, I didn't have a single geeky friend and now we're co-hosts of our own podcast. I met all of you around the same time, and now I have many geeky friends. It's great to know people who share your interests. :)
