Hey everyone, I just wanted to show you a little video my Chief Engineer compiled for the Kallima Project.

Please, let me know your take on it!

Looks nice.  What class ship will it be?  From the few external glimpses, it looked kinda like a Steamrunner variant.

Initially the project started as a Miranda class refit, but evolved into a class of its own, taking some of the best things from some of our favorite star trek ships. As you can see the interiors were largely inspired by voyager.

The outer hull has changed about 4 times, but will remain much the same configuration as it currently is. I will have another video compiled when the hull is near completion.

Here is an older video of the hull configuration. We have been debating weather or not to "bridge" the nacelles.

Please excuse the crudeness of this video. It was slapped together in about three mins lol :)

Thanks!

Planning for it began in September of last year. Construction started in november, and went through several major changes over the course of six months. With the sign up of Lieutenant Commander Kaiden Ruxton to our project, we have totally surpassed even what I had originally expected when the project was initiated.

The interior build is nice, the exterior build is getting there... Its the functionality that is really turning it up. There is a small team of engineers working on an active LCARS interface. A computer within the game, that is capable of accessing unlimited information, capable of sending information, and capable of controlling various aspects of the ship. With this new Core, the ship will actually be able to engage in ship to ship combat with other ships utilizing the core, it will actually be able to EXPLORE a virtual universe.

Ships systems will need to be maintained, or the likelyhood of a failure will increase... It is so intense, that I cant even put into words some of the capabilities of this new system, but I hope it can add a new dimension for 3d RPG'ers within Secondlife. To me, it always defeated the purpose to log into a visual virtual world, sit on a virtual bridge, put on your virtual uniform, and then "pretend" to be under attack by a cube. Because Secondlife is so visual, it would benefit RP to such a degree within SL that I really am happy to be a part of its conception.

Now, dont get me wrong, SL RP and your RP are two different beasts... I wrote a post earlier suggesting everyone of you bring your RP to SL but after taking some time to absorb the amazing writing that you guys are putting out.. I think SL would take away from it. I think though however, those who are not adept at writing, or are afraid to participate, can get swept up in the story onboard the NX-Kallima.. In a different fashion.

I do hope to eventually be able to make video dramas using the Kallima, with voice actors and actual evolving scripts, however I havent been able to figure out how to do that yet.

This post is turning into a good sized novel, and Im getting side tracked so Ill just end it here:

Kallima will surpass all exsisting RP in SecondLife, but my latest assessment shows me I have to think of some way to bring it to the calibur of Arabella :)

This is going to seem rediculous after my pure enthusiasm just days before... But I have officially suspended the Kallima project indefinently... Im kind of crying like an IDIOT right now.. My Chief Engineer, my best friend.. Jesus it feels like he broke up with me but he just couldnt carry on in the project anymore... So I cant do it alone.

This project is closed, and I dont ever plan to go back to SL to complete it.. Maybe that will free some time for me to be in the RPG here.

The grass is always greener on the other side.. I can sulk all day, Im not grasping for sympathy, although I thank all of you for your kind words, I do not want to drag this sad day on through this post. I want to bury it and focus on better things. I dont want to bring you all down with me, I just wanted to inform you of the MAJOR change since I wrote this post which took me off guard.

Sorry to hear that Lexii.  That's one of the things with this type of thing.  Since it depends on people and their spare time you really have to be committed to the long haul - and somewhat crazy to take on something like this.  But as you said - sometimes things happen for a reason.  We'd love to have you in the RPG.  Talk to Kenny (StarTrekFanatic5) or Jen and they can help you on that - if you are interested.

Thanks rico, as a matter of fact I am very intrested in getting into the RPG now that I have free time on my hands. I just need to clear my head for a week or two. Its true what you mean for the long haul... We have been working on this since last september. When I sleep, I dream of new configurations for the nacelle pylons... Its crazy. Kaiden gave me his best that whole time, and I shouldnt be mad or even sad or surprised that he had to go. Its colhlege, and when he told me he was going to collge like six weeks ago, I told him it was an honor serving with him, and that he wouldnt be able to stay... I just wasnt ready for it. But anyway, a little bit of crazy... Yes.
