Star Trek vs. Star Wars?

Are we talking just the Empire or the entire Star Wars Universe?  I don't think one can just discount the Force out of hand if we are talking the Star Wars Universe in general.  Plus, I am with Wraith, I wish there was a more comprehensive tech manual for Star Wars because the focus of those movies was the story more than the technology whereas in Star Trek the technological capabilities of the ships was more fleshed out because it played an integral part in the story in a lot of cases.

DOes any of that make sense...it sounded good in my head :)
