Say hello to Episode 3 - SimCity! Special thanks to King for getting me my very first voicemail :)

Hello Blockers!

Episode 3 is here! The big discussion topic this week is Maxis' groundbreaking game series, SimCity. Before we get into that I talk a little bit about my half-marathon training and my resultant sore legs. Then on to a bit of news, I revisit the Larry Kickstarter which has now reached its funding goal, give you guys some details about finding the podcast on Stitcher Radio and finally cover what's going on with my DOS gaming box build.

Then we get to our main topic, SimCity! We discuss the genre and the history of both the original game and SimCity 2000. We then do a quick review of SC2000, listen to my very first voicemail and much more! I hope you enjoy.

Thanks for downloading and stay tuned for the next show where we'll talk about the great strategy game, X-Com: UFO Defense.

Very good podcast!  I got to listen to it tonight in front of the others to see how it turned out :D.

On a side note, I would be more excited about SimCity (5) if it wasn't being released by EA.  Just not enthusiastic about what I've heard about it.

Anyway, very informative podcast about SimCity, thoroughly enjoyed it :D

Glad you enjoyed it and thanks again for the comment. As for sim city 5, I know EA isn't always the greatest, hopefully they'll leave the team to their own devices to some degree.

Yup, I missed the cut.

It's not impossible that I'll get you a retrospective on Sim City for the next show but don't rely on me...

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

No worries! Two weeks until the X-Com show comes out (which is helpful to me since I didn't play much X-Com in the day).

Looking at what EA did to ME3, I have little hope that EA will leave the team alone. But I'm going to watch and see what happens. Not going to get my hopes up, but its worth watching in any case. Actually, just checked and its available only through Origin and I will not buy any Origin-tied game.  So this is a no-buy game, I do not trust EA with my computer, as their Origin service is well known for scanning your hardrive without permission.

I don't have any personal experience with X-Com, I know someone who does, but he doesn't listen to podcasts.  *Shrug*

I found a cool little article about the history of Sierra On-Line. Thought it was a fun read :)
