heh, there were certainly a lot of ways to die in that game! It's actually an issue some people had with it. LucasArts prided itself on the fact that you'd never die or get stuck in the majority of its adventure games to try and one up Sierra.

I actually liked it.  I mean we got frustrated, but we would all laugh our butts off and then try and figure out how to solve the problem.  Plus the humor was so great.

That would be a fun video to post in the facebook group if you wanted to Rick... :)

Hey billybob!

Thought this was very informative. You're doing a great job with this podcast. It was interesting to learn about the scenarios such as the San Francisco earthquake and the Godzilla scenario. I've never played SimCity but I am familiar with the concept. I thought it was funny everytime you said Raid on Bungling Bay. It sounded like a tongue twister!  ;D

Looking forward to hearing more!

Great job!

Caught up with Umb podcast yesterday.  Loved the original Sim City so was great to reminisce about it.

Hey there Blockers!

Welcome to episode 4. This time we're looking at our first turn-based strategy game series, X-Com.

To start, the news: Two Kickstarter projects that have come out since the last show. The first one belongs to Jane Jensen, of Gabriel Knight fame. The second is huge news for me as it's being put on by the creators of Space Quest! Check it out, it's looking pretty cool. I update everyone on the DOS gaming box project and finally we listen to a voicemail about last show's topic, SimCity.

Then, the main topic: 1994′s X-Com: UFO Defense (a.k.a. UFO: Enemy Unknown). We cover all the usual suspects for this unique game, story, gameplay, graphics/sound, development story and some opinions about the first game and the series in general.

Hope you all enjoy!

Next week, a much-demanded topic: Space Quest!

A pleasure. I needed to break my recent silence and you got the honour. Need to check the future TrekSF episode thread for more comment topics now :)

Still a lot of time but I thought I'd put out the request for Space Quest comments/emails. So much to say about this incredible game series.I already burned through Space Quest 1 (original EGA version) over the weekend!

Cool - I'll try to get a comment in for this one.  Love the series.
