Did anyone else sit on the edge of their seats expecting any character at anytime to be either hit by a tirade of machine gun fire or explosive sniper shots? I honestly didn't know where it was going or what was happening next. And what an ending!!

ChrisMC

Yes, absolutely. As usual this show always makes me tense...and the last scene at the cookout I kept waiting for something bad to happen! By the way, the two musical montages in this episode were great! I have been waiting to hear "Crystal Blue Persuasion" on this show!

Here'a a cool site that breaks down what's left for Breaking Bad.

I am FINALLY caught back up! For the first time, Jamie and I are watching live on AMC instead of Netflix. Tread lightly... ;)

By the way, that area where Hank lives looks just like my neighborhood!

COOL!  I love this series so much!  It's going to be a sad day when the final episode is over.

ChrisMC

The first episode was great. I cheered for Hank.

So will we, BUT I think this last season is slightly beginning to show the cracks of trying to carry this story too far. I think the decision to wrap it up is timed perfectly.

Not sure I agree with that.  The way I look at it is they are intentionally setting the pieces into place to wrap up and conclude the series in a meaningful way.  So, the writers are moving things to an endgame.  They have known for awhile that this was it so they have been able to write for that purpose - unlike some series.  Loving every second of it.  Last Sunday's first episode back was top notch.  And that opening teaser segment - perfect.

Yeah, but having just binge watched the first episodes of Season 5, there were some weaker moments that may have faded from memory. We adore the show, I am just pointing out that we, and others I know, didn't think the start of Season 5 has been as strong.

I think the perspective is different when you watch shows as they air.  I've been following this series since it began, via television and it's been a great ride all along.  They need to balance the intensity now and then with other episodes.  They all can't be as crazy as some of these episodes have been.  To me it's just be an amazing look at the characters - especially of course, Walt and Jesse.

Yeah, understand, these are the most MINOR of criticisms. But the tale does require us to accept a lot of happenstance and coincidence and fortunate outcomes for our characters in a show based so solidly in the real world, that to try and milk this for too long does strain credibility. Again, the decision to wrap this up on their on terms this year is a good instinct.

ChrisMC

All I know is, that this show more than any other in recent memory, has had me tense every week. It's one of the most finely written shows in years. I have been watching since s1 as well, and I think this show lends itself better to waiting a week than binge watching.

Indeed, but Hell on Wheels, House of Cards, Walking Dead are of equal quality. My critique is valid and I still adore the show. This protestation that watching the episodes over the course of fewer days is less so.
