Not a shock here, but starting in 2014 Marvel will have the "Star Wars" comic book license once again.  Not a surprise since Disney owns Marvel comics too.  Anyway, this might be a cool thing to see what they do with the license after Dark Horse's run with the comics ends in 2013.

This should come as a surprise to no one, because since the acquisition of Lucasfilm by Disney (which also owns Marvel), many have speculated that Star Wars comics would be coming to Marvel eventually, and now it's happening. According to the Blue Sky Disney blog (via Bleeding Cool), the current license at Dark Horse Comics will continue through 2013 after which the contract will expire and revert to Lucasfilm/Disney/Marvel...

"The Suits in the know have determined that no new contracts will be given to Dark Horse after the current ones expire. So all new projects after 2013 will be handled internally by Marvel.

It's not known yet if titles will be worked into the regular line up, or will Marvel create a special branch of the company that deals with Star Wars. It'll take a couple of years for the old deals to work their course, but the stories that Dark Horse have coming down the pipeline will be the last. And you can expect anything new from Marvel dealing with Star Wars to arrive around 2015.

Interesting year for that to happen..."

Yep, I suggested as much over at the ForceCast forums post acquisition.

It's OK, I guess. I think Dark Horse has just done a great job with SW, it's a shame they are losing out.

From the Dark Horse series I read, I liked them, shame they are losing Star Wars, but as well I am sure Star Wars will be well taken care of with Marvel and maybe a chance for them to do more with the Comic side of things.

It's just going back home. Marvel was the first place to have the license back shortly after ANH was released.

Yeah, wasn't there a space rabbit in those early Marvel comics?
