hello all,
i figured since i had time i would post something. i know i titled this thing rambligs and rants, i really don't have a lot to rant about. rambling on the other hand, lol
last week i went to see STAR TREK : INTO DARKNESS, it was awesome. the sad part is i don't have any one to talk to about it. my coworkers don't care for it. my wife is not a trekkie, even my kid don't want to know anything about it. and when i start post or a chat up, i have to stop myself from telling all about the movie. i have some friends online that are going to see it, but they don't want to know anything about it. so i am kinda in the dumps, but i ain't losing sleep.
with that off my chest, the next movie coming up i really want to see is THE MAN OF STEEL. there is another one too, THE RIPD, it looks like fun.
the man of steel i hope don't suck. snyder did do SUCKER PUNCH, lol
to all those who read this, thank you for your time.

EDIT (Joe): Changed topic name to indicate spoilers

Always feel free to share here.  I liked the Trek movie a lot too and Man of Steel is looking to be very good!

That's cool that you stop yourself from spoiling the movie for your friends. I saw ID with absolutely zero spoilers and I am really glad.  Everything was a complete surprise, except for what I had figured out on my own, and I think I enjoyed the movie a lot more knowing nothing about the plot or what was in store.

well i was a junkie on the trailers for IntoDarkness, but once the reveal about the missiles, i figured it was khan, but i was glad to see that JJ did a twist on khan. JJ has always seem to like showing the normal and then twisting it. the one thing i think JJ shouldn't have done was put spock prime in this one.
i can deal with all else, lol( maybe, lol)

I've seen alot of negative opinion about Leonard Nimoy's cameo in this movie.  Quite frankly it confounds me, I absolutely cannot understand why anyone would be upset about Nimoy playing Spock for even a second.  He could be tap dancing in his underwear in this film and I would still be thrilled beyond belief to see him play the character again.

It wasn't the appearance, it was the context of it. It totally threw off the pacing and took me out of the movie.

Yeah, as thrilled as I was to see Nimoy it was an oddly placed scene. It was there to remind us, and I guess people who don't know Trek, that Khan is a bad guy and even if he's being helpful dont trust him. I think perhaps a scene with him after the events played out would have been nice, or perhaps a scene of nuSpock talking to him over sunspace about events on New Vulcan. All that said, I did say 'yay' when he showed up on screen.  Love me some Nimoy.

For the record, I have no interest in see the 80+ year old Leonard Nimoy tap dancing in his underwear. ;) Oh and I also thought his cameo was unnecessary and too telegraphed.

well seeing nimoy in the movie was ok, but i don't know how spock would know if the khan in his timeline was even the same person in the new/ alt timeline.
that is another thing, the more i think i about it the more i am confused. if they are doing the new/ alt  timeline why and how can spock know anything. lol

I didn't mind Spock Prime showing up and it was kinda cool how nuSpock thought to check with him. Is it any different from him checking with somebody from another ship or Starfleet to find out about something. Of course what he was trying to find out about his options were limited.
