Geekyfanboy

You use your Cell phone to write your RPG sims???

I plot the ideas and mail them home for the rewrites later, or I write them on my laptop when on the go.

That explains a lot.  ;)

I really wish I was as cleaver as some of you guys, so what I do is not up to some of high levels some of you have reached, but all said and done I love my job even if the hours and the commuting times are a bit long.
I work for a medium sized engineering company in my home county of Worcestershire where we make bespoke shop fittings and most of the major high street stores. I work in the sheet metal section as a programmer/setter/operator we use CNC machines for punching, cutting and bending steel for various fittings and components. I have been in this field for about 15 years now and I really could not see me doing anything else. In many respects this is my dream job, I just love to make things and always enjoy the challenge of making something new or different.  My hobby is IT I love to build my own computers and love to learn new skills.
As a footnote I would like to add that 10 years ago my wife decided to change her career from a legal secretary to nursing, she is now an honours degree staff nurse working for the NHS and I am so proud of her I will spout it given any opportunity. :) :metallica:

Wow, that's a big congregation! If I where up there I die of stage fright. :o

moyer777

yeah, at first it was kind of intimidating.  The most I have ever spoken in front of was a crowd of 960 or so.  Our church is around 400 or so, we have two services, so what I goof up on first service I can correct 2nd service! :) Of course, I have done TV and radio, and I don't know how many people were listening or watching.  But live, I still get butterflies before I get up and speak, and I've been doing the live speaking almost 10 years.

Very cool Rick.  What I found from teaching and doing a little public speaking and the podcast is the number after awhile doesn't matter that much.  Just relax, take a deep breath and be yourself.

Yeah I did some teaching and public speaking when I was in Air Cadets. It used to terrify me. Now I still get a bit nervous but I think it's more of a good nervousness. I'm not scared of messing up and looking stupid, I just want to do the best I can and be engaging and funny.

Being a cadet from age 14-19 was one of the best experiences of my life and taught me how to be a teacher and a leader. It also got me my glider and private pilot's licenses!

Cool pictures Rick, you look good up on the Stage.

You look style'n in your black shirt and tie Rick! What a set up your church has!
I used to sing in a trio at church and always had extreme nervousness. I never got over it, which is weird because I don't mind talking in front that many people, but as soon as I have to sing I almost feel sick to my stomach with fear. I felt much better when I was a back-up singer...I felt like I had a nice comfortable place to hide behind the lead vocalist.  :D

I only wear a tie at funerals, weddings and some holidays, I think I was one of the only ones in church on Sunday to wear a tie.  We are pretty casual at CLF.

:)

The church is a nice facility with lots of cool sound equipement and lights.  I like multi media stuff a lot, and it helps to present things cool.  The coolest thing about the church is the very sincere and nice people that attend.  I have some great friends that really care about each other and our community.  I work with an outstanding leadership team.

As long as I have time to prepare, I usually do ok.  I don't get too nervous, but like I said before, I always have a little twinge because I care a lot about what I am presenting.  I really want to get things across in a relevant way.

When I was a kid I hated church and never went because of it.  I thought it was boring.  I have made it a mission in life to make it fun and relevant all at the same time.  Not many people sleep through my sermons!

Yea, I have that issue, especially when its been a long week and I gotta go to church.....you start dozing when these pastors talk sometimes.  Really bad habit of course and I don't reccomend doing it.  :(  But yea, I've been giving church a less harsh look as I used to.  Maybe getting out of my rebelious stage.  Who knows.  ;)
