TreksInTeaching

Hi! I'm Michael from Chicago, IL.

I am a TNG fan and have had an awakening in the last year and finally fully embraced my geeky side.  Went to my first Comic-Con in 16 years, am signed up for the Trek convention also to be in Chicago in October.  Brent Spiner is my son's favorite character from TNG and quickly became mine after meeting him last month at the Rosement Comic-Con.  Rico, sorry I missed you, I have been listening to all of your episodes from the last year and finally am one episode away from being with the current episodes.  I then look forward to sending my own submission to be included in your podcast.  I listen to it in my third grade classroom prior to my kids arriving, and then great them with a variety of trek songs.  They are all acting ensigns working towards promotion to fourth grade and think that Trek is cool :-).  Glad to finally make my way home to Treks in Sci-FI.

Really glad you have joined us - and you are nearby too!  Not sure I'll be at the con in October but might be.  Anyway, I'm sure you will enjoy the great group on the forum here.

Welcome to the boards and not all of us are geeks. Well maybe.... :)
Ripley: Ash. Any suggestions from you or Mother?
Ash: No, we're still collating.
Ripley: [Laughing in disbelief] You're what? You're still collating? I find that hard to believe.

Thanks everyone!!  I have a huge grin hearing from you all.  Yes Rico, I am near Rockford twice a month when I visit my father in Poplar Grove.  We repair antique clocks from the 1700's to the early 1900's together and then sell them at shows and on E-bay.  Provides a nice extra income; and who could use a little extra of that these days.  I'm working to take my son to the Trek convention in October, it would be both of our first non-comic con convention.  Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome!!

You repair clocks?  I have this mantle clock that was a kit I built several years back.  It's really nice but the pendulum seems to stick sometimes.  Not quite sure why.  Maybe I should get it to you to have a look.

TreksInTeaching

I'd be more than happy to take a look at it, if you could send me a pic of the clock and movement.  I could let you know if I can do something with it or not, the newer the clock is the less you can do on it yourself.  They are kind of like today's cars in that regard :-).  Id be more than happy to help in nay way I can.  Ill send you an e-mail.

Thanks.  Clock is at home in Michigan, but I'll get you a pic of it sometime.

Hey Guys! This is Kent (Adama on the forum).  Thanks for putting my pic up on the site!  I've been a member on the forums for quite some time but never have chimed in on anything.  Just a little background on myself, I have really gotten into prop collecting these last couple of years.  It started out with the Battlestar auctions held by PropWorx and now has grown into a real hobby.  I now own original Star Trek, BSG, Stargate, and Caprica items as well as some real space shuttle pieces.  Thank God for my "Man Cave / Office" or my wife would've probably kicked me out by now.  Really enjoy the show and look forward to meeting all you guys!
