They can remaster them, add new sfx, add new unseen footage etc. etc. but I doubt I will spring for them. I've already spent around $500.00 collecting the original release of 40 volumes and although it would be nice if they took up less space I just think I have spent enough money on Trek VHS tapes and then DVDs over the years. I'm satisfied with what I have.

I feel your pain.  I've bought the movies on VHS and a few episodes on VHS.  Then I bought the whole TOS series on the 2 episode per DVD release.  Then I bought the season sets for TOS too!  But, TOS is near and dear to me so I'm sure I will spring for the HD sets when they arrive.  I'm wondering how they will price them?  I'm not sure if any TV shows have come out in box sets on HD or Blu-Ray yet.  Hope they are not too high priced.

I thought read somewhere that there was pretty much only one movie company backing the HD-DVD format and that the rest had already put their backing behind Blue-Ray....DARN IT, I wish I could remember where I read and what company it was.

That's not true.  Actually right now it's pretty split up.  And some releases come out on both.  Also, keep in mind players are starting to hit the market that play both formats.  So I don't think either format is going away anytime soon.
