To add to that, I also have a personal voice chat server that we could use when that comes out.  (I use it to keep in touch with old guildies from my old guild).  I know its far off, but its a thing to keep in mind.

Cool idea for the RPG, it could bring in some interesting story elements (like fun pieces of tech that can be imagined). I am so looking forward to STO. Please PLEASE God don't let this game suck!

Idk...after Star Trek Legacy, anything can go.  I'm very much hoping for a good game.

So what about the uniform idea that Just X asked about? I say good bridge between the game and our story...Anyone else have an opinion? :)

I think it's a mute point since we are not a visual RPG game. Honestly uniforms are the last thing I'm worried about when it comes to RPG. If you like the idea Jen then I'm cool with whatever you decide.

Jen

Yeah, I mentioned the same in an earlier post—though I don't think it hurts anything to do so. There are many visuals we describe through words...the uniforms are just one more aspect.

I'm going to go with the idea that, since this is primarily text based, we shouldn't worry too much about the uniforms. If you need to talk about some part of your character's uniform and want to include one of these new adaptations, no problem. We could probably just let the uniform develop organically like the rest of the story, and we'd end up with something interesting. But, honestly, how much do we really think we're going to be noticing and describing uniforms? We have the Romulans to evade, spies to uncover, and two cultures to unite.

I think that was Just X's original proposition...develop it over time. Thinking beyond the current story line and sub plots here—some people need things to do that don't involve assassinations, commanding starships or counseling crewmen. :) Not everyone has a role that involves those sorts of jobs.

Okay, I think I should clarify why I brought up the uniforms. So here I go.

As a writer and one that often enjoys reading the written word, I find a story without description to be woefully lacking. While we are writing, to write without discription doesn't hold much weight.

Having seen uniforms evolve over the course of several series, I see how the "look" of a crew is just as important as the "heart" of a crew.

I also look back and remember how every starship had their own crest in Kirk's time and it was the actions of his ship and crew that altered the face of the starfleet uniform and the crest. The mark of the enterprise became the mark of Starfleet.

Now here is where it gets interesting. From future shows, books, and games, we have an idea on how the face of the universe might change.

Then I thought "hey wouldn't it be cool if the TIberius got new uniforms and from those new uniforms, the future adopts the look of the crew?"

To that end I felt that giving the crew a new look to assist in their mission could spin off, at least in our own canon, to the future look of Starfleet.

Again, I know we are text and look doesn't matter as much as words, but it's because of these little touches that can turn a decent story into a epic tale. Would Moby Dick be as memorable if it was just a run of the mill whale?

When I read what is happening I try to see what is happening in my mind as I think most people do. I bet that if you asked everyone right now, they would have a different idea of which version of the uniform that the crew is wearing. By recomending a set uniform, we can have a united vision and developing that tech on the uniforms can be a secondary story that brings flavor to the season and characters.

I can't remember a star trek story that doesn't have two or more things happening at the same time during the episode. Well, except for the two parters.

They look awesome, but I was wondering where you got these pictures. I looked everywhere for them on the STO site, but I couldn't find them.

Jen

Yeah, they're gone now... they were on the original STO site, but I think they went away after they updated the website with a newer version. I think  these images may be on Perpetual's site now...
