Rico, is there a chance we will see Admiral Talbot in the future?  Or are you just going to make a new character all together?  (You don't have to say if you don't want to).
I'm also going to work on an NPC.

Yes I decided to make Ensign Took my second character and pull him out of the NPC role. I think it's a good idea for for everyone to have a second character or if not a full character an NPC character.

When you guys create a NPC... Go ahead and create a little profile (especially if you're going to be playing them primarily). Kenny placed his in the Active Character Profile Section. Make sure in the Subject Heading you indicate they are a NPC.  Kenny's NPC is named "Ensign Took". Check it out his profile when you get a chance.

If your character is sick, you can use the NPC as a way to help solve the problems as a virus resistant individual.

Oh - as Ahhnold would say....  "I'll be back!" (as in Talbot)

Tips on creating and using NPCs:
Remember, the story is always about the main characters (your characters), don't let a NPC overshadow them. NPCs are a small part of the greater storyline. Use  them to add spice to the story and to your characters. Use them to help you set up scenes. They are the characters who stumble in and out of a scene and tell the story without the need for a lot of character dialog. Make their scenes visual—use them to paint a picture. Here's an example of how to do that. Let's say I want to use a NPC to show that Commander Sevryll is in Sickbay... I would use them to better illustrate what's going on around her.

Ex:
A petite blond woman speed-walked out of the turbolift and down the corridor to Sickbay. Katie Jenson was late for her shift and she knew there would be heck to pay. The instant she crossed the threshhold of the medical facility, the tardy nurse was struck by the fact that the end of the day would be an unachievable goal. Her eyes scanned an overwhelming number of patients who occupied sickbay. It seemed every available medical officer was on duty—would there be enough of them to meet the needs of so many? Doctor Peterson was too busy to scold her... so she rushed to assist the haggard CMO as he coaxed the first officer onto a biobed. The vulcan seemed frustrated and perhaps a little angry. The slower Jenson wasn't quite fast enough to avoid the hypo that Commander Sevryll smacked from Peterson's hand. Yes... it would be a long day indeed.

If you want to create a second main character that you can really flesh out, that's fine. Kenny actually made his NPC a second character. I'm betting he'll use him a lot while Quinn is sick. There's only so much "sick" scenes you can write before you get tired of writing the same thing. Use your other characters, to switch gears if you get stuck or bored.

I made some changes to the RPG rules at the end of last season. Mainly they were intended for new people to keep in mind when they created a character. At the time, I didn't think about the fact that you all  would be creating NPCs and Secondary characters and would need to know this as well. My bad...

Please check out the Rules again, if you haven't read them in a long time. The new rule is: no more undercover, covert mystery people (investigators, spies or otherwise). I have one NPC who I only referred to throughout the seasons... he only made a guest appearance in Season Four; David Lock AKA Colonel Khev. That character won't come back for a long time. In addition to him,  we have a main character who is a spy on the ship, but we shouldn't have too many of these types of mystery characters on Tiberius. A few is OK, but we've hit our limit for now... otherwise it would feel more like Babylon Five than Star Trek. We also have a main character who appears to be something he isn't.  So when creating new characters, whether NPCs or Second Main Characters, try to avoid covert or mystery individuals unless our main plot calls for it.

OK folks, if you've created a character profile, and sent it to Kenny or I for approval... Then Season Five is open for business. Post away!

I'm telling you... we should start a "support group" thread. I think I'm addicted. "Hi, I'm Jen and I'm a postaholic." Group says "hi, Jen."

Just an FYI....

Please don't disable the ship to much.. we still need to make to Vulcan in a timely manner. At the moment it's only one section that has a hull breach and cut off from the rest of the ship. Communication is down ship wide and lights, doors and turbo lifts are working here and there. Let's keep it to just those problems for the time being.

Great job guys so far with season five.. it's started off with a bang.

Jen

Also Doctor Lucas died first because he was first exposed to it. We have to build up to additional deaths. Two for now is fine but hold off on more for the time being please.
