I've had some fun with Legacy. The controls take some learning but overall it's not so bad.

Is this a ship game?  If so, what era does it take place in?

billybob476

Yes, it's a ship game, it starts in the Enterprise era and moves through to TNG. Voiced by all the Captains.

Thanks for the Link, billybob476!  Man; just when I think I have things worked out, a new variable enters the equation! LOL

This game looks cool too.  You mention the controls are kind of difficult.  Is it the mouse part or keyboard configuration that complicates things?  Are there a lot of keyboard combos to memorize?

Just ran across this thread.  I haven't played Armada in a few years now.  I think I'm going to dig it out and see if I can't get it installed and working on the Windows 7 box.  Barring that I've got an old XP system that I use for some ham radio stuff that I could install it on as well.

Hello!  I was a beta tester for star trek online last year and actually ended up buying a new gaming system because I liked I so much.  Love it!  I you haven't played it I encourage you to pick it up.  Pretty cheap now.

I was disappointed with STO myself.  It could have been so much more, but it isn't.

I believe it's gotten better and certainly added a lot of new content.  I've been thinking about giving Trek Online another go soon.

billybob476

Yup same here. I read they re-did sector space so it doesn't look like a big map anymore and have added tons of content. Defintiely on my schedule to give another look (especially considering how much i talked it up when it first came out :) )

Its not content that is my complaint, its the mechanics such as the ground stuff as well as the starship combat which I viewed as broken when I played around with it.  And no death penalty of any kind helped to further break those two mechanics.  =\
