unix is a completely different os, its all in codes but u can download a skin to make it look like a windows interface, i dont really know a lot about it... i'll ask my dad about it and then post more... he grew up with the dos computers. ive seen him do stuff in command prompt thats just ridiculous...

Ya, I'm pretty sure Unix is kinda like MS DOS.

Unix is a pretty cool system altho it does not have a gui. I think it is worth learning beacuse there are things in UNix that you can do that Windows and Macs cant.

very true, you can write commands that can sort through hundreds of thousands of files in a few seconds... my dad was telling me about that because he uses Unix at his office.

Oh man, Dark, you just re-opened Pandora's box... ::)
Just kidding...

On a different note, I just installed Ubuntu on my sisters computer, because Windows stopped working. Go Linux! (of course, she doesn't like it... you can't install iTunes on it...  ::))

Mac OS X is built on Unix. That's what helped to make it stable.

Cool. I actually own a PC. I'd originally bought it to check my web work on PC browsers. Also, Swish (text animation app for Flash) was PC-only. Now, my wife and daughter use it pretty much exclusively. When I can afford to buy an iMac, they'll get the Mac G4 and the PC (which is going on five years old) will most likely be sent away.

Oh, wait. My daughter plays "The Sims 2" and "Sim City 4" on the PC. Guess it'll go to her room (but no internet connection!).
