Some of you probably know that I help administrate a message board devoted to classic movies called The Golden Age of Hollywood. Over the weekend I started a new social network for classic film fans and I'd like to invite any members who love classic films and the stars and directors who made them to come by and join. I'd love to get as many classic film buffs and lovers on the network as possible.

The network allows you much like Facebook, or Myspace, to set up your own personal page. You can add pics, videos, music and blogs. You can customize the look to fit your personality. You can even start subgroups within the network. For instance, if you wanted to start a Humphrey Bogart fan club you could. Or fans of Sci-Fi or anything else related to classic films. Come join and check it out. I think you will really enjoy the site.

If you do join add Ktrek as one of your friends will ya? Here is the link to the network:

I love classic movies. I'm a huge Audrey Hepburn fan. I also love Maureen O'Hara, Carry Grant, Jimmy Stewart and John Wayne. My favorite classics are Charade, The Quiet Man, The African Queen, The Cowboys and A Roman Holiday. :)

I'm a fan of most movies even bad ones. I think I watch too many movies.

I'm watching more and more TCM - must be getting old.  :)  Watched The Apartment the other night - great movie.   Fred McMurray got so much hate mail for playing the heavy - he never did it again.   I'll check out the forum.    Jen - Quiet Man.  Great flick for this time of year.

Yeah, my husband and I can quote that movie like nobody's business. :D

"Impetuous!"

Me, I'm about 50-50 with old movies.  It depends on my mood to be honest.  I still watch them.

Love old movies, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart and David Niven. I love old Holmes stories and of late have very much gotten into Silent Comedies (always been a fan but i think when you start buying them on DVD that's when you start getting serious) like L&H, Harold Lloyd, Keaton etc. A comedy writer and presenter here called Paul Merton has done a tour, tv programme and wrote a book called Silent comedy and it is worth buying. The tour was fantastic, saw some classic silent shorts.

Simon...that's great that you are into the silent comedies. That's actually where a lot start out. In fact my co-admin is from Scotland and that is exactly how he got into classic films. As far as silents I enjoy the comedies but I like the dramas more. Ben Hur, The Ten Commandments, Wings, The Godless Girl, Lights of New York etc. Most of my interest though is in the talkies. I especially like screwball comedies and flim noirs and also the series type films. Things like The Falcon, The Saint, The Whistler, The Thin Man, Charlie Chan and Sherlock Holmes. B movie material for sure but fun stuff.

I recently obtained the Leslie Howard Sherlock Holmes, all 32 episodes on 4 DVD's they are quite rare, That's a series though. I love early Holmes (I'm a member of the Sherlock Holmes Society of London), except for when Holmes was investigating crimes during the war, I'm a purist so i can't stand that. I also really like early horror like Nosferatu, and the wonderfull sci fi classic Metropolis. Beautifullyshot films.
