Hi All,
I'm Chris Lopes, and I live in Colorado Springs, CO with my lovely wife Ellen and our two cats. I work in the semi-conductor industry and am a big science fiction fan. I've been listening to the treks in sci fi podcast for a couple of years now and enjoy the geeky goodness that they provide.

For those interested, vavu (my spelling of it anyway) is Portuguese slang for grandfather. It is what my grandson Isaak calls me.

Salut! Accueillir aux forums.

I thought it would be fun to play around with Free Translation a little bit. Anyway, glad to have you in the forums and I look forward to getting to know you a little better.  :)

Actually that'd be "Bienvenue aux forums"

Accueillir is the verb 'to welcome' where as bienvenue is what you would use to welcome a person to something.

This French lesson has been brought to you by the Quebec french immersion public school system.

:)

Rats! I thought it would be "bienvenue," but I just took Free Translation's word for it. Never trust Free Translation! :P

About all I can remember from my high school French class is how to count to 10. Not exactly enough to get me into the foreign service, but it did impress the girl at the ice cream shop a few months back.

Why don't you impress them with your superior Spanish skills, KC... I know as a fellow Texan you must have taken at least 2 years of Spanish. I've taken 7 and I'm more than rusty. The only people that I "converse" with in Spanish are my brother and father and apparently knowing how to say things like "shut your mouth" and "do you want to fight?",  isn't exactly useful in when trying to buy from a vendor in Mexico. :D
