NEW! Well...new-er. :) Our Facebook Group voted on a list of archived Anomaly episodes. Our 2008 Galaxy Quest episode beat out our reviews of Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Hush, Firefly: Shindig and even our first Worst of Trek installment: The Game and more. Apparently we're not the only ones who love this movie. That said, this installment is not the same ol episode. I enhanced it with trailer and scene clips, a listener comment from Kenny and some awesome voice overs from Rick Moyer.

The newest Anomaly episode has been released! Thank you Rico for your comments! This episode features a debate on how Star Trek: Into Darkness treats its female characters. The debate and listener comments are meant to bring light to the discussion being had on the interwebs about this very topic. Angela and I purposefully took extreme stances in order to make the debate more entertaining. Our goal was to represent both sides of this discussion while offering the contrasting views of our listeners.

Not all the women who commented found this movie lacking in respect and not all the men who contributed felt the female characters were strong. We did our best to make this a balanced and respectful discussion. I hope you enjoy it, even if you find our arguments flawed in some way.

Feel free to send us your thought on this debate. You can email them to us in mp3 or written format to girly geekz at gmail dot com,  you can join our Facebook Group and tell us there (https://www.facebook.com/groups/117812266828/). Jen, did I just hear you say Saavik is Spock's wife?!

In a trilogy of novels (Vulcan's Heart) she was bonded to him... :) Beware of spoilers: http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/Vulcan's_Heart  Oh, and here's a more comprehensive canon and non-canon history, which includes her "helping him" through pan far in "In Search of Spock" which may have inspired the trilogy I mentioned above.

Right, I have heard about those. I wish in the film they had stuck with the half Romulan, half Vulcan background story for her.

Jen

That would have been awesome. Also, I know the books aren't considered canon, but I really like the thought of her as his wife. It's hard for me to accept anyone else in her place. :)

Hey guys, I created a video review of the new lightsaber I purchased from ultrasabers.com.

Rico

Great review Jen!  It's very bright and sweet looking.  Can't wait to see you wielding it in person at the con.

jedijeff

I liked the review Jen, very thorough. I am not much of a Cos-Player, but the Idea of having a Lightsaber that you can make somewhat your own is appealing, I think I will have to check out getting myself one.

Praxis

Wow, those ultrasabers are so awesome, makes me want to become more familiar with the star wars universe. Always only been a very casual fan. Seems like star wars has the coolest/most advanced toys/swag out of everything in scifi.

Meds

Great review Jen, loved it.

New Anomaly Episode: Cosplay 101. Angela and I discuss our cosplay plans for Austin Comic Con. This episode also includes tips for cosplay newbies. Listen to this episode and learn how to measure yourself correctly for that Star Trek uniform, guys.  :) Looking forward to meeting Rico on Friday! Hoping to do a few con reports with him while waiting in lines and sitting at our booth. Hope to see some of you there as well.
