It always amazes me that people that are so creative and we love their stuff can be so horrid in person.  I guess it's like anyone else, you just don't know till you meet them.  I guess creativity doesn't equal nice.  :)

I have been and always will be, your friend.

Hmmm yeah, its like comedians. It always amazes me that some one who can be funny in real life can be the most miserable sods going.

It's really unfortunate that Orson Scott Card chose that name for the aliens in 'Ender's Game', it did take a little bit out of it for me as my brain kept snorting with laughter every now and then.

Well, in just under 2 weeks, I'll be reading the new one by Katherine Neville, titled The Fire.  That oughta be good!  I read her earlier book The Eight (which The Fire is a sequel to).

I do need a recommendation of a Trek-related book.

BJ
Love Star Trek TOS & TNG (never really got into DS9, Voyager, or Enterprise).  Also love Star Wars (everything save for the prequels...), and Indiana Jones, and ElfQuest, basically anything remotely SF or fantasy is my bag, tho I tend more towards SF than I do fantasy.

Reading 3 different books right now-

-Travis' new Clone Wars novel Order 66

-The first in a 3 part Trek series called Destiny

-Re-reading Stackpoles X-Wing books, starting with X-Wing: Rogue Squadron

...Man; all of this reading is seriously cutting into my TV watching time! ;)

Data

I'm reading  Crucible: McCoy: Provenance of Shadows I've only just got into it but i have to say i like it anyone read the others in the series?
"Commander. You just sit tight. We'll have this all fixed up in time for supper. "

Ktrek

I almost always have several books I'm reading. The first is the new Star Trek Destiny - Gods of Night and it's really good! Second I am reading Leading Ladies - 50 of the most unforgetable actresses of the silver screen. Lastly I am reading "We Look For A Kingdom - Everyday Lives of the Early Christians". It's really very interesting. Surprising to me is that the early Christian beliefs were far for like today's Catholics than Protestants on almost every single point. Makes me wonder if Luther and his movement was more of an abberation away from what Christ founded?

"Oh...Well, Who am I to argue with me?" Dr. Bashir - Visionary - Deep Space Nine

I've just started reading a little known book called The Hobbit. Never read it before and am really enjoying it.

Bryancd

I'm reading "Paul of Dune" by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderssen.

I'm close to finishing a quite fun children's book called 'Tunnels' by Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams :)

A bit ago I finished reading ALL of the astronauts biographies.  It was very cool to compare each of these special people.  Right now I am revisiting the original James Blish adaptations of the TOS episodes.  An interesting thing about these books is that years ago I heard they were based more on the original scripts and stories then on the actual aired episodes.  It looks like the remastering may have done the same thing.  For instance in the JB story "Dagger of the Mind" it describes the surface of the planet as " . . . the colony proper was all underground, its location marked on the surface only by a small superstructure containing a transporter room, and elevator head, and a few other service modules."  This almost exactly matches what they did in the remastered version.

As a kid all we had were these books when TOS was not running (boy we are spoiled now, lol).  I remember reading these and being a little miffed because they differed from the episodes.  Now knowing these are the original visions of the show in some cases give a little insight into the stories that we didn't get to see on screen.  I have not read these in over 30 years and I'm surprised I'm enjoying them so much.  I urge those of you not familiar with these to check them out.

I'm also reading "Stages to Saturn" (again) which is a very detailed book on the development of the Saturn V.  It's great if you love reading reference material.

Can anyone recommend any good "Enterprise" novels?

HEY GANG - I miss having book reviews to play on the podcast.  I'd love it if some of you could record a 2-3 minute review of some book you have read.  Send them on in!
