x3 on the Bane books.

I just finished reading Millennium Falcon.  It was allright; sort of a one-off, stand-alone story.  It picks up some of the threads left over from the Legacy Of The Force series, but nothing monumental really happens.  Kind of a place holder until the start of the Fate Of The Jedi series.

Right now, I'm re-reading John Ringo's A Hymn Before Battle, the first in his series of Posleen invasion books.  Just reading this novel while I wait for another book of his that I ordered- Manxome Foe.

Ringo is a great Military Sci-Fi writer; he manages to mix action, humor, and some actual science into his fiction.  If you enjoy military sci-fi or alien adventure stories, I highly recommend both his Posleen and Looking Glass books.

My IDW trade paperback copy of Star Trek: Assignment Earth came today so I'm gonna get started on that! I love the IDW stuff but I only buy the trades. I won't double dip on these!

It's a good series.  One of my favorites of the IDW stuff.

I liked the "Falcon" book. I think it sets up a new series well.

Nice!

I picked up a new hardcover edition a while ago.  Going to wait 'till a little before the film's release to tear into it again. :)

I just finished reading Planetary Vol. 1 (issues 1-6) by Warren Ellis. I liked it a lot and will definitely collect the rest of the volumes. Some weeks ago I read another of Ellis' series, Global Frequency and I didn't like it as much as Planetary. I think that's probably because Planetary has more interesting characters. However, I definitely like Ellis as a sci-fi comic book/graphic novel writer.

Just finished reading "Bird by Bird" by Anne Lamott, starting "Persepolis" by Marjene Satrapi, and then moving on to "The Watchmen" in a week or two.

Just finished reading Republic Commando: Order 66. Really great book. Just started re-reading "Ambush at Corellia" for the SWAN book club.

I'm currently reading a Star Trek novel called Strangers from the Sky.

I just finished the Star Trek Destiny trilogy by David Mack and I have to say they are among the very best Star Trek books I have ever read. The novels are truly epic in scope and although each volume is close to 450 pages each it never bogs down. Absolutely fascinating and fun read.

Currently I'm reading the follow-up book A Singular Destiny by Keith R.A. DeCandido. I'm about halfway in just a couple of hours. So far it's a good read but not even close to the Destiny trilogy in quality of storytelling.

Your reading list looks just like mine! :)  I just finished the Destiny trilogy as well, and started A Singular Destiny yesterday.  And I agree; the Destiny books were like a breath of fresh air into the Trek novel franchise.  The recurring plot device of the books leading up to Mack's trilogy was starting to seem kind of tired, but his books managed to make what came before seem relevant again.  Plus, I enjoyed the way that Mack very neatly tied up the aforementioned plot device.

So far, KRAD's book seems like a decent follow-up to the series.  I agree that it isn't as engaging as the Destiny trilogy, but his multiple-perspective look at the aftermath of The Big Event really drives home how world-shaking the event was. And Professor Pran is one of the coolest Trek characters I've come across in a while.

I too like Pran! Like I said I'm only around halfway but hopefully the book will be a satisfying read.

I do really like the direction the books are taking the Star Trek universe and if they stay on course the future should hold some very good reading indeed.
