Regarding Peter

[spoiler]What Joby says, it does seem like Peter is working more for the benefit of Walternate, then for our Universes Fringe team. Since Fauxlivia laptop code was broken, the fringe team could have potentially caught a shapeshifter and interrogated for information. Peter just took the shapeshifters out. I guess if he mentioned to Olivia, it might arouse suspicion that he might be influenced by Walternate and to be watched more closely.

I do get as well, that Peter just might be very upset, and deciding to take matters into his own hands. Peter did lead a rather dark past before coming to fringe, so those might be traits he had in his previous life as a con man.

I am guessing they will keep up guessing on Peter's allegiances for the next while.[/spoiler]

What did everyone think about "Fringe" last night?  I thought it was pretty good.  Kind of icky the way those guys were dying.  Eeewwww!

Haven't seen it yet, gonna watch as soon as my wife has some free time.  This is the only "genre" show I could get her to watch with me.

I thought the episode last week was fantastic, since the break they have been putting in some really solid episodes, and I am looking forward to going back to the alternate universe in the next episode.

[spoiler]I really felt for the fellow with the ability to read minds, I could really sense the agony he was going through when they took him to Boston to help with the case. I like how they are showing Walter some of the consequences of his experiments in the past and how it has effected people. Watching how Walter is handling it is very moving. Just like the Firefly episode a few weeks ago, you could really see the anguish in Walters face over what he had done. I thought it was a real nice touch, after Olivia spent the episode trying to convince that fellow to break out of his shell and talk to a girl he was dreaming of, that he gave her a note at the end about what Peter was thinking. Usually I am not really a fan of romantic angles in shows like these, but in this case, I am actually sort of interested to see how it works out. Especially after the reveal at the end that Sam from the bowling ally was the person behind the First Peoples book. His statement that things with the machine sort of hinge on Peter and which Olivia he ends up makes that relationship even more critical.[/spoiler]

Last night's episode was really good again.  And,....

[spoiler]I'm very happy that it looks like the real Olivia and Peter are finally moving closer together.  I think they have portrayed this situation and her problems with the shadow of the alternate Olivia very well.  I'm hoping now they can move forward with their relationship.   :wub[/spoiler]

Tonights episode was pretty awesome. I enjoyed going back in time with the retro intro again and seeing where the last one left off. This is definitely my favorite show currently on TV.

This weeks episode I had a few difficulties with at times. I have to say, I really like they have the different openings they have for the different universes and or times they are in. I think this retro 80's opening is my favorite, as it is so cool. I did have a tough time with Walter in his 80's mullet, I guess they really cant get around it, but just looked odd to see him that way, as he had young look, but a very old face. But I will not criticize them to much for it, because really not much you can do to get around it on TV, as they would not have the budget like they had in Tron to pull a younger Walter off.

[spoiler]I guess my big complaints are as follows

I found the whole Little Peter/Little Olivia storyline just hard to swallow. The events in the episode just seemed to go against what had been set in the characters to date.
For the entire episode little Peter could not accept that he was where he was supposed to be, and that Walter and his mother were his real parents. But years later, he is shocked to find he was stolen by Walter from the other universe, but as a little boy, that is exactly how he felt. I just don't see him every growing away from that feeling. Unless I missed something in earlier episodes, it really left me second guessing this episode.

Little Olivia and Little Peter met up in what I would think would be something you would remember for the rest of your life. But before they met on the Fringe division, they never had any recognition of either before, and the friendship they had in that field. Just doesn't seem like something you would forget, and that it would have come up before once they realized the connection they both had to Walter.

I can accept that some of the events from when they were younger, they would have forgotten, or their memories would have been very foggy or disjointed. As after I watched this episode, I tried to recall some events from my childhood, but really couldn't. So for me, I can use that to sort of explain why Olivia memories of her time in the cortexiphan studies are so foggy, as just over time, you will forget things. When I was younger, I was sent to a hospital for a few weeks for some studies, not to dissimilar to what Olivia would have encountered in the show, I was around the same age, but besides a few events, I have no memory of what really happened. But again, I just don't see them forgetting that night in the Tulip field.

looking forward to getting back to a more regular episode this week. Really hope that Fringe gets picked up for another season.[/spoiler]

I kind of agree Jeff,....

[spoiler]I enjoyed this recent episode, showing the past but some things just seemed off.  I think my biggest trouble was Olivia and Peter meeting as kids.  I would think at that age they would remember it.  I guess they may have been trying to say that they were destined to be together - in a way.  I'm not quite sure.  I did enjoy how they learned how Olivia could move between worlds and that she is actually responsible for Walternate learning about the alternate Earth.  That was pretty cool.  Interesting episode.[/spoiler]

[spoiler]Great episode, but I can see how they wouldn't remember each other. I don't know about anyone else, but there are probably hundreds if not dozens of people that I've met only once in my life and don't remember. From the Olivia aspect, I'm thinking there is some serious mental blocks going on because she doesn't remember a lot of her childhood or that she knew Walter at all let alone Peter. Something happened to make those memories distant and I think that if she would have remembered anyone it would have been Walter. Peter was just some kid with a common name and she didn't even know he was Walter's son.[/spoiler]

I get these points. It is always difficult to retrofit back story into a show but I am blown away by the quality of the material. So much detail!

My Thoughts
[spoiler]When I was around the age of Olivia and Peter in this episode, I went to the hospital for some tests, something not all that different from Olivia. So I agree, for her not to remember the people involved in the cortexiphan program not to be out of the range of possibilities. For me, I certainly don't remember anyone I was in the program with except vaguely one kid who tormented me a bit. But on the other hand, for the most part I remember my teachers from my elementary days, and Walter should have fallen into that category. I think at the end of the episode, when Peter and Olivia came back to the building they were running the tests at, she would have seen then, that Peter was Walters son. I still think that moment in the field would have been something she would have remembered, same with Peter. There is some theories that possibly both Peter and Olivia had there memories altered, since it is stated previously neither have very strong memories from that time, and Olivia is just starting to realize what happened back then. I am hoping that is the case, and there might be a followup episode which might explain that, as to leave it as it is right now, still seems like a bit of a stretch to think they had completely forgotten that part of their lives. For me, I still think Peter should have some memories, since the whole episode was about him feeling he did not belong and I don't think the explanation from his mom would have been enough. I get maybe over time he might have accepted it, but then he should not have been as shocked when it was discovered he was stolen from the other side, part of him should have expected that. I guess one could argue, that the reason that Peter became estranged from Walter, was that he never felt he fit in. Plus his whole live as a con man, was a manifestation of never feeling like he never felt he fit in where he was. But still I would like something a bit more concrete on why he does not remember that time, or even Olivia. But if it takes the story where it needs to be, then I will accept the way it was handled.[/spoiler]

As in my spoiler quote above, agreed, they might have had to rework things to get it to fit into the story, guess it would be hard to write this series, and given the nature of TV these days, they don't have the luxury of knowing they will be around next season to tie up things.
