I heard about this today.  I don't know what gets in the head of some people.

OMG... this  makes me sick to my stomach...

Wow. I don't know what to say about this. Part of me isn't surprised that a Marine could commit animal cruelty. I am not suggesting that all would do it, but when you are mentally broken down in basic training to learn or enhance the capacity to kill another human without hesitation, some people do tend to devalue all life and might not see anything wrong with killing a puppy when they have been conditioned to kill humans.

I'm glad they are doing something about it, but part of me wonders what the Marines expectations when it's their goal, for the most part, to turn people into killers.

Omra

The puppy was long dead before it was thrown, it was stiff as a board.  But I still can't conceive of why they would even make the video in the first place.  It is senseless and plays right into the hands of the Anti American propagandists.  It is stupid and callus and shows a complete disregard for the recently deceased.

The puppy was not dead.. if you see the actually video you hear it wimpering.

Rico

Can't even watch the video.  :(

I'm getting tired of this stuff appearing on youtube.

This is sick.  And I can see the evening news just EXPLODING with this S(*& tonight.  Sorry....its cruel and all, but its just the excuse that anti-war, anti-Bush, anti-soldiers will use to their advantage.

Most likely, Marines were not thinking.  And considering their training, that can happen.  War is also not nice and can mess with people, but why in the He** would someone make a video....just sickening and stupid.

Also another damn reason that soldiers should not be allowed to have cameras.  Not to sound like I Like being naive, but it causes a hell of a lot more troubles than it solves.  Vietnam anyone???

All I have to say is you might be able to train me to defend myself against someone else trying to kill me during a war - but you could never make me do something like this.  Never.

Omra

I saw the video, it was not the puppy making the sounds.  Its lips never move.  It was one of the marines making the sounds.  As if somehow that was funny.

It wasn't.

I don't think I want to watch it.  So I won't.

I have been and always will be, your friend.

I have to agree with Omra that the puppy wasn't making the sound. I'm not a film maker, but the sound of the whimpering seemed to be consistent regardless of the distance of the puppy from the camera. I don't know if it was real or not, but it was really stupid. It's not something a sane person would do. It's not something many idiots would do when a video camera is pointed at them. It takes a special kind of idiot to commit career suicide on camera.

I think that convicted felons have an easier time of finding a job than someone that has been dishonorably discharged.

I agree with Rico about personally not being able to do something like this, but knowing as many marines as I do, it takes a special kind of person to make it though their training and not everyone who completes the training does so with all of their marbles intact.

People like to bring up the cowboy and gun loving ways of Texas and to a certain extent that's true. Perhaps this is why 1 out of 10 Marines is a Texan. Some people can handle the stress of being a marine, but obviously these idiots couldn't.

Oh yea, because if they were dishonorably discharged from the military, that is reallllly bad.  Convicts have a better chance because its possible they have a work ethic.  :\
