Can't think of another better reason than to do it now my friend.

Scott

Well, I don't have a job, so no money. But I'll buy alot of the episodes once I do get a job. All because PBS doesn't have the good doctor on anymore. Last time was like 12 or more years ago.

Well i am doing a thread about Doctor Who the early years so check that out for the meantime. I'm up to Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker will be next.

Scott

Well I know all about Tom Baker. And I've downloaded alot of the Baker episodes. It will be nice to get all the parts to a story off iTunes though. It takes a while sometimes to piece together a story from various episodes.

'Doctor Who' Coming To America ... Again

By MICHAEL HINMAN
Aug-27-2008

Reports are starting to circulate that two of the proposed three "Doctor Who" specials planned for 2009 will be filmed in the United States rather than the United Kingdom.

According to News of the World, a BBC source said that such a move -- the first since the 1996 "Doctor Who" film was shot in Vancouver, B.C. as well as San Francisco -- is in response to the show's continued popularity in the United States where it's shown on SciFi Channel.

"Two specials in America, with a U.S. setting and U.S. assistant, will take it to another level," a source told the publication. "David Tennant is already gaining a huge following and this will make him really hot property."

This news comes as SyFy Portal was chasing its own leads on such a report -- but one that came with a different set of reasons. While BBC does boast that its signature program is a hit in America, a lot of the decision to film in the United States has less to do with rewarding audiences on the other end of the Atlantis and more to do with economics.

The British pound is trading strong against the American dollar, which means doing business -- including filming -- is much cheaper to do in the United States than it is in England. Some reports have even surfaced that some of the filming for the final two Harry Potter films will move over to the United States because of the disparity between the two currencies, and as a way for the film to better maximize its budget.

Of course, neither the News of the World nor the SyFy Portal reports have been confirmed by BBC, and should be treated as any rumor would.

This in todays English newspaper The Sun, take it with a oinch of salt but hey good news if it comes true.

DOCTOR Who heartthrob David Tennant is negotiating to play the role in a movie version as part of his big comeback deal.

TV Biz has already told how BBC bosses are wooing the 37-year-old with a £1.5million contract.

And we can now reveal that the star has agreed to make a full fifth series in 2010 if the big screen role can be tagged on to the deal.
Beeb chiefs are in talks about funding for a movie. At the moment Tennant is only signed up to star in four specials next year, as well as a Christmas episode.

Last night, a show source said: "It looks like the film is going to happen in the next few years.

"For ages, BBC Worldwide held the rights and were planning to make a movie, but it got held up and former BBC1 boss Lorraine Heggessey decided to bring back the TV series in 2005.

"But everyone is keen now and the fans are clamouring. Part of David's conundrum is that he wants to do films, so this looks like it would solve both issues."

Both outgoing show boss Russell T. Davies and his successor Steven Moffat have already voiced their support for the film.

Yesterday, Davies told us he would love Catherine Zeta Jones to be the Doctor's companion on the big screen. And last month Moffat said: "It would be good to see it in the cinema so long as it's fantastic."

David, who has wowed critics as Hamlet on stage, has already filmed the Dr Who Christmas episode. Catherine Tate is set to return as Donna Noble in one of the specials.

Two previous big-screen versions of Dr Who have been made, starring Peter Cushing in 1965 and Paul McGann in 1996.

Here's another story about him doing the movie.

Tennant Set For "Doctor Who" Movie?
By Garth FranklinThursday, September 11th 2008 12:11am

David Tennant is in negotiations for a new film version of "Doctor Who" says The Telegraph.

The actor, currently only contracted for five more episodes, has reportedly agreed to reprise his role as the tenth Doctor in a full fifth season in 2010 if the big screen role can be added to a new deal.

"For ages, BBC Worldwide held the rights and were planning to make a movie, but it got held up and former BBC1 boss Lorraine Heggessey decided to bring back the TV series in 2005. But everyone is keen now and the fans are clamouring. Part of David's conundrum is that he wants to do films, so this looks like it would solve both issues" says a source.

BBC managers are seeking funding for the film and outgoing producer Russell T. Davies revealed he would like Catherine Zeta Jones to play the Doctor's companion in a film version.

Incoming producer Steven Moffat is also keen on the idea, saying last month that "It would be good to see it in the cinema so long as it's fantastic."

Two previous film versions of the series have been made. Peter Cushing took the lead role in 1965, and Paul McGann starred as the Time Lord in 1996.

More news on The new series.

FORMER Doctor Who Paul McGann is making a surprise comeback to the Tardis next year.
The star of cult movie Withnail And I played the eighth Doc in a one-off TV film collaboration between the BBC and Fox in 1996.

But a follow-up series was never made and when the sci-fi show eventually returned to the Beeb in 2005, it starred Christopher Eccleston, 44, as the new Time Lord.

But Paul, 48, reprised his role in several audio adventures — some broadcast on radio — and has remained a firm favourite with fans.

He is expected to begin filming in October or November for one of four feature-length specials to be shown instead of a series in 2009.

Flashback scenes will see him battered from the Time War and shorn of the long hair he had in the film.

An insider said: "Fans loved Paul's Doctor and feel he was never given the proper chance to shine. Reference is often made to the Time War which wiped out the Time Lords and this will give them a taste of that."

Current Doc David Tennant will also appear.

It does sound good. I look forward to this all being true!

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

The rumour of Paul Mcgann being in the next series/specials is a pretty big thing, we all want to know about the time war and how cool would it be to see Mcgann in action, plus we may even get to see the regeneration of the 8th to the 9th doctor.

Meds - is Mcgann's one shot film as the Doctor out on DVD?

I think it is Rico. It was the one shown on Fox years ago.
