Yes, I had heard that. Also, after Tom Bakers clown and Peter Davisons youth he was much closer to the mould of the 1st Doctor's abrupt grumpiness which jarred with me a bit.

I'm sure I'll get back round to seeing them at some point.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Children in Need 2008 news.

News services are reporting that this year's Children in Need will feature a special to include all seven living Doctor Who lead actors.

The below report is from the Telegraph. The story also appears in the News of the World and the Sunday Mirror.

[Remember: treat all such news as rumour until confirmed officially by the BBC]
The actors are getting together for the BBC charity Children in Need in a programme to be broadcast on November 14.

An insider at the BBC said: "It's a pretty ambitious idea and it's still being finalised. Everything is being kept under wraps but Doctor Who fans are in for a big treat."

The first of the 10 actors to take the role was William Hartnell in 1963, followed three years later by Patrick Troughton and then by Jon Pertwee but all three have since died.

The seven survivors include Tom Baker, now best known as the voice of the comedy series Little Britain, who played the role for seven years from 1974.

He was followed by Peter Davison from 1981 to 1984, whose daughter Georgia Moffett has also featured in the programme and who is now dating the current doctor, David Tennant.

The others are Colin Baker, from 1984 to 1986, Sylvester McCoy who had two stints from 1987 to 1989 and re-appeared in the role in 1996, Paul McGann, who took over the role in 1996 and Christopher Eccleston who reprised the series in 2005.

Take it with a pinch of salt but how good would this be.

It would be excellent.

I'm not sure I believe it, but Children in Need does seem to pull rabbits out of hats on occasion.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

I would be VERY suprised if they got Eccleston. McGann, McCoy, Baker (C) and Davison still play the Doctor in audio form so i'm sure they would jump at the chance, as for Tom well you never know. They need to do more than 8 mins though, it would have to be an hour special for me.

heh all the 6 will be extras as the current one will be doing everything...

David Tennant Considers More 'Doctor Who'

By MICHAEL HINMAN
Oct-13-2008

Another year of "Doctor Who" may not be too bad for actor David Tennant, that is if BBC is willing to front him a raise and offer him a picture deal to go with it.

The actor, who plays the Tenth Doctor in the series, is in negotiations to extend his contract through 2011, according to The Daily Telegraph. The actor already is involved with this year's Christmas special as well as three specials planned for 2009 since the fifth season was delayed to accommodate Tennant's stage schedule.

How much could Tennant get if he stays? It would have to be far more than the £1 million, or $1.74 million. Plus, Tennant wants a "Doctor Who" movie, something the BBC is supposedly seriously considering.

"The BBC is determined to make sure David doesn't go without a fight," a source told News of the World. "He is an integral part of the series."

Some other "Doctor Who" news have been circulating as of late. One is a report by the British media that all seven living actors who have portrayed The Doctor will band together for the annual "Children In Need" charity special that the BBC is involved with each year. Last year, Tennant filmed a "Children In Need" event with one of those former Doctor actors, Peter Davison.

Also, Prince Charles has left the door open for a possible "Doctor Who" cameo. While the initial request from Russell T. Davies was ignored by Charles' office, his officials there say it's likely that they could reconsider if the offer was submitted again, according to Reuters.

"Doctor Who" returns to British television on Christmas Day for its annual Christmas special. Last year's special attracted 13 million viewers.

David Tennant Leaves Doctor Who

David Tennant will be leaving Doctor Who at the conclusion of the 2009 specials, the actor announced live on stage this evening at the National Television Awards.

The Guardian newspaper this evening broke the story prematurely, reporting on their website (in a report subsequently pulled down) that Tennant is "vacating the TARDIS and leaving the BBC's Doctor Who series at the end of next year. Tennant's decision brings to an end his popular four-year tenure as the time lord." The article went on to say that the BBC had confirmed that the actor "would complete the filming of four special episodes to be screened this year and in early 2010, as well as 2009's Christmas special."

The BBC Doctor Who website has now posted the full news: "I've had the most brilliant, bewildering and life changing time working on Doctor Who. I have loved every day of it," the actor says. "It would be very easy to cling on to the TARDIS console forever and I fear that if I don't take a deep breath and make the decision to move on now, then I simply never will. ... I'm still the Doctor all next year but when the time finally comes I'll be honoured to hand on the best job in the world to the next lucky git - whoever that may be." Tennant added that he "always thought the time to leave would be in conjunction with Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner who have been such a huge part of it all for me. Steven Moffat is the most brilliant and exciting writer, the only possible successor to Russell and it was sorely tempting to be part of his amazing new plans for the show. I will be there, glued to my TV when his stories begin in 2010." He furthermore says that he feels "very privileged to have been part of this incredible phenomenon, and whilst I'm looking forward to new challenges I know I'll always be very proud to be the Tenth Doctor." Says Russell T Davies, "I've been lucky and honoured to work with David over the past few years - and it's not over yet, the Tenth Doctor still has five spectacular hours left! After which, I might drop an anvil on his head. Or maybe a piano. A radioactive piano. But we're planning the most enormous and spectacular ending, so keep watching!"

More details soon!

I'm sad to see him go.. but at least we know for sure now.. I wonder who they will get to replace him.

Feathers

Bad news, but I suppose it's not really unexpected as it's been rumoured often enough now (though I'm sure this probably contradicts something I said earlier in this thread).

Can we vote for Meds as the eleventh Doctor?

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Meds

I'm just in touch with one of my mates who i work with on the danger signs and we're in converse right now. I'm for Robert Carlye.

Feathers

I can see it, but the idea makes me nervous for some reason I can't quite put my finger on. Sadly, I think John Simm would have been an interesting choice but that ship has obviously sailed.

I haven't made my mind up on my choice yet as you can probably tell.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Feathers i accept the challenge of becoming teh 11th Doctor ha ha. For me i's like to see Richard Coyle seen below.

KC

I definitely like the idea of Richard Coyle, Meds.  I still don't personally know who I would cast as the Doctor as of right now...

Hmm the next doctor? that's hard.

I'd loved to see Kevin McKidd in the role, but that's just me loving Rome and wanting him to have a job that's not yanked from him like Journeyman.

I"d also like to see ... hmm don't know yet.

But McKidd does have a season as a Time and space traveler. I think it might work well.
