I put mine on a usb drive and watch it via xbox ... or stream it when I'm lazy.

Rico

I'm curious what type of media file an XBOX will accept?  Will most work?  Avi, mov, mpg,...?  TIVO can accept pretty much anything - even .mkv files.

That's a tricky one. It accepts more files from a portable HD than it does from a stream from your comp. Let me get the list....

Just got done watching the 2008 Christmas Special.. it was good, I don't know if I would say it was the best of the Xmas specials but it was as enjoyable and fun as the others. It was just good to see a new Doctor Who. I liked the story and the tribute to the other Doctors. I wish they would do something other then the cybermen and daleks for the bad guys. But it had some cool effects and overall it was a fun ride.

Rico

I liked it quite a bit.  The other Doctor/actor was great I thought.  Loved the opening few minutes especially.  It had been so long since I'd seen some new "Who" this was a welcome treat.  For some reason I kept thinking the lead evil woman that leads the Cybermen was the wife of the other Doctor.  They seemed to look alike but I guess that wasn't so.  I thought it might have been a good twist.  Anyway, very much enjoyed the special episode.   :dalek

Some good reponses so far. I thought last years Xmas special was not good at all. It was sold on the fact that Kylie Minogue was in it and that her name was an anagram of Tardis. Hmmm. Plus it was just the Poiseidon Adventure. The previous ones were carbon copies of each other (robot santa's woah!!!!) So this years event i thought topped them all. It was a good old style episode (prob why i liked it so much) I agree with kenny Cybermen and Daleks are getting a bit thin, plus as also mentioned by Feathers these Cybermen are new Cybermen not the original classic ones from Mondas who have encountered 8 of the Dr's. The new ones would have no idea who the other 8 Dr's would be. Anyway thats nit picking.

Rico

Don't the Cybermen transfer knowledge down and around - kind of like the Borg?

I finally got the chance to watch the Christmas special last night, and I thought it was fantastic.  Definitely an improvement over the script from last year's Voyage of the Damned.  David Tennant once again brought an amazing performance, but David Morrisey as the Next Doctor was up at his level for sure.  They both had great moments together and neither one tried to outshine the other.  I also enjoyed Dervla Kirwan as Miss Hartigan, although her character was a bit underdeveloped in my humble opinion.  The special effects were great throughout, as were the costumes, sets, just everything within the episode.  For me, I think it's become my favorite Christmas special, although I'm not sure if I can consider it the best of them all--The Christmas Invasion was a pretty good one.  I'm just a little sad that the next special won't be appearing for a while.  *single tear*

Oh, and to show off my girly side, I want Miss Haritgan's red dress.  Period.  That thing was gorgeous.  I think that's what I want for next Christmas.   :love

Yes but only in one race, You see the Cybermen originally come from a planet called Mondas, they fought with all the Doctors ( from 1 to 8 ). But in the new series these Cybermen ( with the C on the chests) the Cybus Cybermen originated in another universe, where they were created by John Lumic, the owner of Cybus Industries and they have only met the 10th Doctor. Now if they had  device that somehow obtained information from The 10th Doctor then i could understand that but that has not happened (so far).

KC Great review, i too thought that Hartigan was under used and why oh why could we have not use her again.

Meds you know Doctor Who like I know Trek!  You know things no mere mortal should know about a TV show!

I really liked this episode, better then the last two Christmas Specials, I might say right now that it was better then the 2005 as well, but I think I'd want to rewatch that first before make that kind of decision. But I did really enjoy the Cybermen in this episode and the story of who the Next Doctor was, I really loved that character as well as and where he ended up. I liked the ending as well how in the past episodes since the Christmas Invasion we just see the Doctor run off at the end, but not this time. I love David Tennant playing the Doctor, I'll be sad to see him go, but The Next Doctor gets my "I loved this episode" description.

NEW DOCTOR IS....................................

BBC News has announced that the identity of the actor who will play with Eleventh Doctor, succeeding current Doctor David Tennant, will be announced tomorrow.

The news will come in a special edition of tie-in documentary series Doctor Who Confidential, which is being transmitted on BBC One tomorrow evening at 5.35pm. The episode will also be shown at the same time on BBC Big Screens in town centres across the UK.

The actor was confirmed in the role over the Christmas period, and will begin filming for series five this summer, for transmission in 2010. New executive producer Piers Wenger is quoted as saying: "We believe the actor is going to bring something very special to the role and will make it absolutely their own. I just can't wait to tell everyone who it is - it has been a nail-biting Christmas trying to keep this under wraps!"

The release from the BBC Press Office confirms that the Confidential episode has been retitled "The Eleventh Doctor" (it was formerly advertised as "The Ten Doctors"), and will feature the actor concerned giving his or her thoughts on having been cast. The press release also suggests that the last of David Tennant's episodes as the Doctor will be broadcast in the New Year of 2010.
