Oooooooo this is good news. I don't see the need to alter the exterior of the Tardis  as there is not much you can do with it, bar make it bigger/ taller/thinner etc (don't get me started on all the different size's used in the series because you know I'll be here for ever). The interior well I was never really a fan of the new interior, as the 5th doctor said "you've changed the desk top theme again". We'll still have the central column but I'd like to see a minimalistic approach.
I think it's all about production. Remember when DS9 was built how it was said that the set was built to be shot on a movie screen. When you are using normal tv resolution, you can get away with a few things that HD and movies won't allow. I'm betting that they change the ply-wood blue box for a solid wood blue box. It would give the piece strength and the wood wood patterns that Ply-wood and duct tape don't allow.

Ah duct tape, reminds me of the Pertwee era ha ha.

I'm thinking the TARDIS will get the new Star Trek treatment. I wouldn't mind a mix of the classic TARDIS look (clean and white) with lots of consoles and screens.

New 'Doctor Who' Finds Its Companion
PLUS: Rumors circulate that only two specials will appear this year

By MICHAEL HINMAN

Source: Dark Horizons

It seems that a decision has been made.

Rumors are circulation, via The News of the World that Hannah Murray will accompany Matt Smith's The Doctor when new guard take over the Tardis in "Doctor Who" next year.

Murray, who has had very limited screen time in her young years outside of her role in the British television series "Skins," is apparently the choice of Steven Moffat to join Smith when the series begins producing regular episodes again in 2010.

The rumor hasn't been confirmed by BBC, but if it's true, Murray will join a long list of companions, that in the modern era included Billie Piper, Freema Agyeman and Catherine Tate.

Tate's Donna Noble first appeared in the second Christmas special of the new series, and returned in the fourth season in a critic's favorite storyline that resulted in the character's "death."

Accompanying the companion reports is a story from Dark Horizons that BBC is planning just two specials in 2009, and not three as originally planned. That will include Easter's "Planet of the Dead" starring David Tennant and Michelle Ryan, and this year's Christmas special, which features Tennant and Lindsay Duncan, and marks the return of the Ood.

The third special has been pushed to early 2010, possibly as early as New Year's Day, and will be the final episode for Tennant, who will leave the series before the fifth season starts in 2010. The episode will take place on Mars, and will feature Peter O'Brien as the villain, according to reports.

Much of this hasn't been confirmed by BBC, so until that happens, it should be treated as any rumor would.

SPOILER (If its true)

Some info from The Sun, this is not confirmed.

David Tennant will appear in four more special episodes of Doctor Who. One will air around Easter, and the other three will air around Christmas 2009 and New Year's 2010. The last two specials form a two-part story; this is the story which the Sun's news concerns.

The Sun is reporting that in David Tennant's final story as the Doctor, he will be accompanied by Billie Piper as Rose, Freema Agyeman as Martha and Catherine Tate as Donna. According to the tabloid, the three companions will face off against John Simm, returning as the Master.

I hope this isn't true.. as much as I love Rose, her story is over and the same with Donna she had a tragic ending to her story but I don't want it ruined by bringing her back. I don't mind if Martha is back.. never really resolved her story. As for bringing back The Master but it should be another actor as John Simm was burned to ashes.

Feathers

I guess they could time it for before the last Master story but somehow I doubt it.

OK, I mean that there's not a chance that they'll do that!

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

I'm with Kenny. The thing is. The new Doctor needs a new companion. Now when Tennant  turned up the first person he was with was Rose and so adopted the slight london accent. The same with eccleston (rumour that the last companion with the 8th doctor was from Manchester so when he regenerated into the 9th he adopted her accent). So for Matt Smith to come in he needs to bond with the companion he's with when he regenerates (that's why The 10th doctor was close with Rose and the reason why the 9th wasnt) he'll have that closeness after the change. Donna would be a nightmare but Martha would be good. Really though i'd love to see a new companion join the Doctor for the last episode and bang new Doctor.

Possible spoiler.

I read something the other day that said something about "The Planet of The Spiders" being the last Tennant story.

That can't be right Scott. There is already a episode of Doctor Who called Planet of the Spiders. Its a Jone Pertwee ( 3rd Doctor) story

Been really getting in 'Who' lately and I'm half way through season 2 of new series.

Being me I need more background info on the Doctor etc and I'm looking for some good online reference sites that I can scan for information.

Can any of you experts recommend any to me?
