The song that was in my head most of the day on Friday was:

In honor of my still living father - "I drank what?"

Funky video of The Bangles with a cameo by Leonard Nimoy.

Yes came to mind and I thought I'd revisit an album that I haven't heard since high school:

'One Thing Remains' by Jesus Culture. The praise band at Church did it today. Very good, cool song. Check it out on Youtube. I'm going to see if I can download it on Itunes.

Sang that one yesterday at the church I go to. It is a great song. We sing it every few weeks. It's one of the favorites at my church.

We did this one at our church:

I had to play drums while leading it. Interesting challenge.

Levon was awesome. One of the rare drummer/vocalists.

I was last listening to my James Bond song collection, I love MOST of them except for Man With the Golden Gun and Die Another Day. Ugh.

Listened to the latest serious work by Tony Banks of Genesis fame. It's called Six Pieces For Orchestra. Really beautiful melodies and some amazing playing as well. His previous release called Seven - A Suite For Orchestra is also worth a listen but I think his latest work shows he has grown a lot as a composer since he did Seven.

Yes is probably my most favorite progressive rock band. I have everything they have ever done. Thanks to Yes and other progressive rock bands for introducing me to classical music when I was young because I appreciate classical more and more as I get older. I rarely ever listen to rock music anymore but when I do it is usually Yes or some other progressive band.

Kevin,

Cool to hear Yes was your gateway to Classical music. Who are your favorite composers?

Have you heard any of the new ProgRock groups like Spock's Beard?

Yea...I have listened to some of the modern prog bands. I think Spock's Beard is ok but I like The Flower Kings, Transatlantic, and Glass Hammer more.

As for my fave classical composers I really love Sibelius, Dvorak,Nielsen, Mahler, Beethoven and many others from various periods. Not a big fan of baroque though with the exception of Bach
