Does anyone have this?  A friend a work got an iPhone and wants it.  Let me know if you have a copy or know where to find it.  Thanks.

Rico

Nevermind - it seems it's "officially" released now anyway - sort of.  Calling it Lightsaber Unleashed.  Here's some info....

Was the original app any different?

Feathers

That looks a little more detailed than the one a guy at work's got but I think it's essentially the same thing.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

So what does it do?  Is it a game?

Not exactly a game.  More like a little app to play with.  I don't have an iPhone so I don't know a lot about it.  Like I said, someone at work was looking for it and they know I'm the "Star Wars" guy so they asked me.

Feathers

If it is the same one as I've seen then it's a display of a little graphical lightsaber on the iPhone with software behind it utilising the accelerometers/motion sensors on the device to detect phone movement and make appropriate lightsaber noises.

Translation: Turn it on, run the software and wave the phone around and it will sound like a lightsaber dual's going on. It's very distracting in the office...

I got an Ipod Touch that can use it and I'm curious about the fact that in the touch there are no speakers (it's not a phone it doesn't need them), it plays the noise through the head phones, does the Iphone do the same.

Also a quick description on this new App which I got is like you said Feathers, it responds to the Ipod or Iphone motion as a lightsaber might, it also has information on the new Force Unleashed characters and you can pick between their different lightsabers, which look different, are different colors, and also sound a little different.

The newer iPhones have an external speaker.  Pretty weak speaker but they do have one now.

ElfManDan

It's a little odd with my Ipod cause it only plays it in the headphones, so some of the sensation is lost with that, but it can get a little distracting at times none the less.

Rico

Is it an older iPOD touch?  I thought they put a speaker in the newer ones of those now too.

ElfManDan

I got it about a month ago, so I would assume it's just the Iphones that have the external speakers.

The new ipod touch does have external speakers.  You can tell if you have the new ipod touch if it has the volume rocker on the side of the ipod.  And it's a little thinner, but wider because it doesn't fit in any of the old ipod touch hard cases.

Nope can't find it on mine, when did that go into effect?

I think around the second week in Sept. when Apple announced all their new stuff (new Nano's, etc.).  You might of just missed it.
