I was a bit surprised more people didn't have big, widescreen monitors when I did that poll recently.  It's really nice to have the screen space and they have gotten a lot cheaper too.  I even played around a bit with keeping my WOW game in a Window this evening.  Check it out.

Looks nice. I have a widescreen monitor myself. As I said in the thread, I have a 20" widescreen, but since I'm a developer, I run dual screens. Love my widescreen but most of my web stuff is on the 19" 4:3 LCD. Main screen is for my IDE, game or whatever I'm working on. When I play WoW, it's in windowed mode but it's maximized to the widescreen. Windowed mode allows me to move my mouse out on to the other screen which I use to entertain myself when I have some idle time.

I want to get a bigger widescreen, but all in good time.

I could never go back to a single screen. I love the real estate.

This is going to be a pretty dumb question but how do you work two screens? Does your cursor go from one screen to another? I'm pretty clueless on stuff like this.

Yup, that's about right. Basically you need a video card with 2 'heads' (video ports), plug in both. Then in Windows display options you set up which monitor on the left and which is on the right and you just move your mouse across the desktop and wehn it gets to the edge of the screen it just moves on to the other monitor.

Actually Meds, if you do a lot of video and audio work I'd say adding a second monitor to your setup would be like night and day.

Hmmm right thanks mate, will have to consider that.

One card is the GE Force 7100, which is very economical.  Just plugs into an unused slot.   A lot of software will even span the two screens, which is a huge plus for video applications with lots of entries on the time line.  Good 18" monitors are practically a song now, but I won't break out in a tune just now.  Never want to go back to a single screen now.  How about 4 or 6?
