Lost Gets a Premiere Date!

Our prayers have been answered! ABC has just confirmed to me that Lost has received an official premiere date for season five, and even better, it's a smidgen earlier than expected.

On Wednesday, Jan. 21, Lost returns with a three-hour (you heard me, three-hour!) premiere. "Because You Left" and "The Lie" will air back-to-back, following a recap of the first four seasons (for the very few people who aren't already addicted and/or obsessed).

So what does this mean for ABC's Wednesday-night lineup?

After the Lost extravaganza premiere, the series will continue on Wednesday nights at 9. Reps at ABC have told me that a decision on new time slots for Private Practice and possibly Pushing Daisies (pleeease?) will be announced next week.

Episodes three through six are as follows: "Jughead," "The Little Prince," "The Place Is Death" and "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham."

ABC has launched the new trailer for the fifth season of "Lost," which features music from The Fray's "You Found Me." In the trailer at the 1:34 and 2:25 mark, the studio flashes the logo for a tie-in company called Ajira Airways, which can be visited at AjiraAirways.com.

Wow Rico, do they often advertise TV shows at the cinema over there? I don't think I've ever seen it done over here.

yes it depends on the theater.. each company does something different. I know with AMC theaters they have what's called "First Look" and this normally starts about 15 minutes before the trailers and it's made up of three or four 2 to 3 minute segments about upcoming TV series, or movie or new music artist. Other theaters have similar things.

I was lucky enough to not get sucked into lost, until half way through this past season. The peer pressure was so great I had to start watching. ABC makes it incedably easy to start,  every episode is available on there site. I watched all the episodes straight through. It took me a week of watching after work.  That show is addictive! Just like usual, after the fun was over came the  characteristic crash.  I can't believe I actually had to wait to see the next episode.

If they actually kill off Locke! disappointed will be mild description. I bet he will appear in the cabin just like Christian Sheppard(Jacks father) after taking a similar trip to the island.

I don't see it a lot and it's a relatively new thing.  I go to quite a few movies and rarely see TV previews like this.  Part of the reason for the "Lost" ad I think was it was created as a music video type of thing for the new song by "The Fray."  Music video type stuff is more commonly seen.  At least it gives us something to watch before the movie starts and it's better than flat out commercials before movies (which I really don't like to see).
