Since another great sci-fi/fantasy show is coming to an end on television, that being Battlestar Galactica of course.
I'm interested to hear other people's thoughts on some great or not so great LAST episode of television shows or better know as Series Finales.

I notice that there is a Best Trek Finale at (http://www.treksinscifi.com/forum/index.php?topic=1862.0) plus some talk about various Series Finales but what about other scifi/fantasy or any other shows?

Like M.A.S.H.   best ending ever!!!!

I really enjoyed the finale of Seinfeld. I thought it was a fitting end to bring back many of the recurring characters to testify against the gang in their trial. Their being found guilty and having no clue as to why was also in keeping with the show.

I liked the finale of Cheers.  Nice, quiet, and dignified.

One of the best endings of a great show was the last episode of Quantum Leap.
It was cool to see Bruce McGill (from the Pilot episode) playing the bartender/owner/etc.
And having Jimmy and his brother there was great too.  Not to mention, having Sam being Sam on his birthday, crows feet and all. It was all in all just a great story.
This would of been the perfect LAST episode of a television show....that is except for one thing.   In the last scene with Sam and Al together, Sam never says 'goodbye' to Al.
I know, I know....Sam made the ultimate goodbye by sacrificing himself for Al's future.  I mean a real goodbye.  Like "Al....I just wanted to say Thank You for everything".   But it was never said.

"I have a wrong I have to set right for Al"

And yes, I do cry every time I read the final lines that....

Al and Beth never divorced and had four daughters.

Sam Beckett never returns home.

I watched the finale to Cheers in a local bar in Tucson, Az.  We all cheered at the end and then could not decide who was more drunk...us or them.

M*A*S*H was the first series I really followed, watched it with my Dad. That was the first series finale I ever saw and had a big emotional impact on me as i loved the show and never thought it would end.

Newhart's ending was fun. :) This is my brother Darrell and my other brother Darrell....

Buffy, for sure. I also liked the way Spaced ended. All of the other shows I watched didn't technically have series finales because they were canceled after 12 or 13 episodes.  :-\

I always kind of liked the ending of St. Elsewhere.  It was unique and unusual for it's time if anyone recalls this 80's hospital drama.  Sadly, many shows these days seem to be cut short and have terrible endings - even cliff hangers.

If I recall correctly, that was a very cool ending!  All a dream, right?

I remember St. Elsewhere.  Good show.  Never did catch the finale, though.

Man; I just remembered another show that I enjoyed when I was in school- Northern Exposure. With my school schedule and all, I had trouble keeping up with it though.  Anyone remember how the series ended?

MASH.. awesome ending

St. Elsewhere.. very cool and interesting ending

Seinfeld... hated that ending watched every episode and the ending left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Cheers... had a great ending.

Newhart... very funny ending.

The West Wing.. was a fantastic series and had a nice ending.

Charmed.. I really liked they way this series ended.

Buffy... loved buffy's ending at the end of season five and again at the end of season seven.

Angel.. was not happy with the way this series ended.

The list goes on and on.. but like KC said.. alot of my favorite TV shows were canceled way before their time and didn't have a chance to do a  proper ending.

Yep. He woke up and he was the character from The Bob Newhart show and his wife from that series was next to him in bed. He told her all about the weird dream he had (Newhart). LOL. :D

I don't know if the rest of you would agree with me, and in some whys I don't even agree with me, but the Journeyman ending was kinda perfect in my opinion. He knows what he is supposed to do. He has his family and his mission. Though I would love to see more, it wasn't some real big cliffhanger, more "life goes on" sort of finish, it was the perfect ending for the show.

But damn I still want more none the less. Suppose it's also the perfect season finally as well.

It was a crime this show was dropped!  >:(

It was getting so good. Such a shame.
