That was fantastic.. if I owned a house.. you can bet I'd do something like that.. at least to a few rooms. :)

Of course the news woman has no idea what she is talking about.. at the end she says they are turning their entry way into a Borg Anclave (instead of Alcove)

Since when does the general media actually understand Trekkies or our ways of talking?  (For example, one guy said: "You call them Trekkers" (no, not that video))  The only people who get it right our ourselves.  :)

But that's besides the point, that's not too shabby.  Maybe a bit overboard like Rico said, if it were me, I'd just love one room all trekkie.  Still, very cool to see it all.

LOL, that's what I thought too... There was a Jedi Enclave in Knights Of The Old Republic, but I never heard of a Borg Enclave. :D

I don't think I could go that far. Maybe an office decorated to look like the Captain's Ready Room...but that's it. To each his/her own. :D

Wouldn't the Borg colony thing in Descent or the one in Voyager be considered a Borg "enclave"?

Rico

Funny thing is, they didn't really show a lot of the stuff in the video.  It seemed like it was more like he called up every Trekkie he knew and had them come over in a costume.  Just once I'd like to see an interview go into a fan's home and them not be dressed in a Starfleet outfit.  This is what keeps the myth going that were are all so far out there that we don't even have real clothing.  Media bias at work again.

Geekyfanboy

Well there is no reason to do a story about a Star Trek fan unless you can get them in costume... :)

Jen

Wait... this guy's whole house was decorated in Star Trek stuff and he convinced his wife to go for it... What makes you  guys think he didn't voluntarily dress in uniform? Some people are like that. :D

If I was that gung-ho, I'd probably get all my buddies together like that every Friday! And yes, the media ate it up.  :)

Yes, sad but true.  Oh, I have little doubt he wanted to dress up and so obviously did many others.  But come on, how ordinary.  I much prefer the stories about engineers, doctors, chemists, etc. that were inspired by Trek to do something to help people, the planet, the future, etc.  It's laziness by media people - in my opinion.  I'm just looking for a balance.  I have been a fan a very long time and trust me, not everyone is like the media seems to portray us as.

I know... :D  But there are some crazies out there. I'll never forget the Klingon who asked me out, in character,  at the one and only con I've been too. He wasn't kidding. That was awesome, I wish I had taken him up on it. :)

But the media isn't about delivering factual news anymore. They want to entertain...that's their thing. Their belief is that no one wants to hear about us normal people who like these things and have typical lives. Wow...imagine that, we don't wear uniforms to work! Do they care? No...it's not entertaining.  ;)

Yes, I know all that.  Years ago I saw a story by "60 Minutes" that was followed by the real facts.  News reporting on TV is totally biased and only about ratings anymore.  And again, it makes me sad and why I generally don't watch it.

Are you telling me I shouldn't be wearing my long beige time lord coat and brown pin stripped suit as i sit in my police box style toilet. darn it, spoil sports. ;)

That me laugh out loud.  As per media thingy, why do you think I don't bother watching the news anymore?  Its too immediate.  *Cue drum bang*

Made me sad, too. It seems to get worser and worser.

Must have to do something with the rating system. Someone sitting the whole day in front of the TV has much more influence on the program than someone just watching once a week. And who has time to watch TV all day long?

But TV also seems to diversify. Some of the entertainment shows tell more intelligent stories. Just compare the best 80s cartoons to what you can watch today. It's amazing.
