Right, just wanted to use it as a framework for some flashback type stuff. Wanted to be "authentic"!

Sorry, stardates are a hair ball that I try to avoid...there are a few stardate generators online.  If you can figure out when the Hobis Ultra Nova occurred (date wise) and add the time frame Chris mentioned, you could probably come close to the date. :)

eh, too much work. I'll just go with "Departmental log, continued" or something!

Meds

Always go with the easiest option mate ;)

Feathers

If we wanted to be consistent with the film, they seemed to drop stardates completely in the new reality :)

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Or maybe they are being consistent with us!

I have an idea I wanted to pass by you all. Rather than have the murder investigation begin, and keep this season rolling for another month or two while that plays out, what do you think about the murder scene ending this season in a cliff hanger and having the subsequent investigation be the plot of next season?

We can get the crew to the space station, have the murder occur...end Season 10 and set to work developing a good plot for the whole murder thing for Season 11. I don't want anyone to burn out this season. It's been rolling along nicely, but I sense the tide is turning. For the remainder of Season 10, I'd want people to continue developing their characters and foreshadowing the murder by writing about the tension between the Romulans on the ship.

Regarding the space station mentioned in the last few posts, it gives us an opportunity to keep some of these awesome temporary characters we created. They can exist there on the station and we wouldn't have to kill them off or have them fade to black. I know Meds only intended Legate Rayan to be temporary and Bryan mentioned something about  Nalah being temporary as well.  Since Dan left the game, his character, Lester, can be transferred there too. There is one or two others who were completely AWOL in the game (not even writing a single post), we'll just park their characters on the station in case they decide to return rather than forgetting about them.  Basically the station will be a place where Arabella can take shore leaves, pick up new characters, get supplies, refits, repairs etc.

I'm 100% onboard! I think it all makes sense and adds to the building of the universe. It also makes sense in that while many of our characters have "known" each other for years thanks to the new timeline, this is really the first time that we are writing new characters in new situations. As much as we think of the other season, this one is a new beast and the characters are different. I'm glad to have the time to sit down and work out how those relationships are and how they blend with the histories of the characters.

I was also thinking more about the space station and those uses for it and I could see certain characters with offices there doing their thing when time permits and being able to jump into the action when more time permits.

It also serves to not only build our section of the universe, it serves to give us a place to build NPCs and other things that might happen at the station and migrate to the rest of the fleet. I think we can also use it to give the story a sense of distance to the federation. They are near the core of the empire ... places where few humans have travels, let alone these other races ... it might be the first time that some of these races encounter someone that's not Romulan. I think the presence of the station can work well with that.

I like that idea.

Speaking as one of the "peripheral" characters, I've kind of had trouble keeping track of the time line. It seemed everything crawled for about 6 hours, then fast forwarded to the next day. Now I'm stumped as to how I should proceed. It just seemed the main plot moved on before I could find a way to have Herm intersect with it. I think moving toward a cliffhanger and character/tension building is good.

I like this idea Jen, we've got a good story going and i think the part of the reason for this being so successfull is with the initial planning that yourself and Chris did. If we can do the same with season 11 especially now that we have such nice new charcters who are regaly posting it will keep it fresh. I think Season 11 should start with maybe the discovery of the body.

I think you missed the main plot because it really hasn't happened yet. The arrival of the romulans wasn't the main plot but part of the arc. I'd suggest you just figure out where you want your character and who you want them to talk to and go from there. The main plot is that of the characters. You're automatically a part of that, the rest is just having them deal with the everyday and the unusual and write it down for everyone else to read.

That's what I meant, the arc. Herm just seemed to miss all the excitement. Not that that's a bad thing, story wise, it just seemed to me that things went by awful fast from day one to day two. That was my point.

Awesome idea.  U. R. da bomb!

I'm happy to run with idea. My characters are pretty peripheral to the current story so it should be easy to go with the flow.

I think it just takes a little time to get use to how things work here. You're doing well...no worries. Next season you'll have the hang of it. :)

I believe what you were referring to was our joint post in the Afterburner involving the fight. That was a joint post, a few writers did for fun, as a wrap up to the long day. We led up to it with several posts about going there after their Alpha shifts were finished. Those are hints to writers who want their characters to end up at the same place as others.... look for those in the story.  The day took more than half of the season to write...it needed to be wrapped up, it was the longest day ever and we had Alpha Shift crewmen still working even after Beta and later Gamma shift began. ;) We've only been writing 'day two' for a little over a week. I would suggest doing more joint posts with people to help Herm into scenes. Once you do that it makes it easier to interact.
