CBBC children's show Blue Peter today included the winning entry for this year's Script To Screen competition run by the BBC. Starring Matt Smith as the Doctor and Karen Gillan as Amelia Pond, the Olympics-inspired story was filmed at BBC Wales Roath Lock studios in Cardiff and was created by three talented pupils from Ashdene Primary School in Wilmslow.

The three-minute winning script was chosen by Steven Moffat, lead writer and executive producer of Doctor Who, Katy Jones BBC Learning executive producer and Caroline Skinner, executive producer of Doctor Who. Skinner praised the quality of the scripts, saying: "We loved reading all of the scripts from schools across the UK and the standard of entries was truly outstanding. It was a difficult, but a tremendously fun task to choose a winner and it was just brilliant to see so many children being creative in developing an adventure for the Doctor. We hope all fans enjoy this special one-off mini episode!"

Series 7 is has been shooting for quite a while now and we now have some location footage featuring the new companion and a guest. Jenna-Louise Coleman character is called Clara, special guest here is Dougray Scott, if that name sounds familiar that will be because he was in the film Perfect Creature that me and Jen covered on TSF a few weeks back.
Some of the pics are from a Victorian shoot, the Dougray one is not. Now we all know that we have a new companion so I'm not putting this in a spoiler tag.

The only movie I've seen Dougray Scott in was Ever After with Drew Barrymore. Any other movies that I should see him in that would be good?

Mission Imposdible 2, oh and he was in Perfect Creature (free DVD if you answer the podcast question lol)

Ha ha ha! Thanks Meds!

I remember hearing that he was originally going to play Wolverine in the X-Men movies. I'm really glad that Hugh Jackman got that role though. I think it would have been a bit different if Dougray Scott was the man with the claws.  :o

Some news.

Details on new Doctor Who companion Jenna-Louise Coleman are reportedly due to be released soon, including her full name.

Steven Moffat has apparently recorded an interview to be broadcast on BBC Radio 5. In it Moffat explains that:

The new companion will, again, be a human from contemporary earth. This is necessary for audience identification and a 'jumping on' point for new viewers
How the companion gets where she is and what that means for the character is what will make her utterly different and fascinating
The new companion will not have any links to any previous characters
Her 'journey' will be shocking and intriguing. The Doctor has never met anyone quite like her before
Her very presence in the TARDIS will change the Doctor and there's something different about her that will have a knock-on effect for the Doctor/companion dynamic

Airing dates and some information.

The title for the first episode of Doctor Who's seventh series and details of when it will first be screened have been revealed.

'Asylum of the Daleks' will be shown at BFI Southbank in London on August 14, preceding its assumed premiere date at the Edinburgh International Television Festival later that month.

Nicolas Pegg, operator of the Daleks in the BBC series, confirmed the news on Twitter, writing: "The title has been officially announced, so at last we can say it aloud: it was an absolute blast shooting Asylum of the Daleks! #DoctorWho."

The title 'Asylum of the Daleks' has long been rumoured by Doctor Who fans and the episode will see the iconic creations return to the show for the first time since 2010.

Series seven of Doctor Who will be the last to feature Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams) as the assistants to Matt Smith's Time Lord, as they will both be replaced by Jenna-Louise Coleman part-way through the new episodes.

Showrunner Steven Moffat has also reassured fans about the future of Doctor Who, stating last month that there is "no chance" of the BBC "giving up" on the show.

You wait months and months to find out an episode title, and then two come along at once.

According to her online CV, actress Jessica Raine will be starring in one of the episodes from the second half of Series 7 directed by Jamie Payne (possibly episode 11).

Raine will play a character called Emma Grayling in an episode called Phantoms of the Hex.

As ever, episode titles are subject to change and it's possible this could be a working title.

That's all we have to go on for now, so make of it what you will.

Thanks to Digital Spy and Doctor Who TV for this info.
