I'm really enjoying these episodes so far. You guys in the UK are just hard to please with Doctor Who. ;)
Too much childhood history with the programme provokes heightened expectations :)

Feathers, hits the nail on the head when it comes to not enjoying The Borings of Akhaten!!  The long trailer for this coming weekend Ice Warriors episode looks GREAT - hope it lives up to expections!!  :)

My kids and I really enjoyed this episode. Might have been a little simple, but that's OK now and then. The Doctor's speech at the end should have redeemed it somewhat. I really like Clara, and thus far not a hint of her wanting the Doctor in a romantic way, which is good.  Sick of that.

I really gotta try me out some Dr Who. That's a major gap in my sci-fi cred. :)

I said the same thing 2 years ago, had surgery, sat home for a month and watched A TON. The whole new series plus many old ones. Life has never been quite the same. Netflix and Amazon Prime have a bunch to choose from.

Alright.... I think I know what I'm doing after I finish Enterprise.

I became a complete Who fanatic when it came back in 2005.  There's really nothing else like it.  I have to say, it's probably the one series that gets me the most emotional - except for maybe the new Galactica.  Star Trek excites my mind and adventure side, but Doctor Who gets my heart going.

Sounds great. Nice to have so much unwatched goodness to look forward too. :thumbsup

Just watched tonight's episode (somewhat time-shifted). What can I say? Liam Cunningham, David Warner, Ice Warriors.

Best one this year so far. Wow!

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Agree Mike, really loved this episode. Ice Warrior was wicked and brilliant nods to the second Doctor.

Having listened to Stefan's Highway to Mars, I tend to agree that we're getting in the realms of 'proper' Who for the first time in a while. This was the first creepy/scary episode I can really remember. I hope the kids enjoy it when they get to see it!

Hopefully things will be well into their stride by the time we hit the 50th... Whoever happens to be in it.

Can't say I agree. The episodes so far have all felt rushed, had no real purpose other than "ooh look a monster, oh look we've defeated it, right next". Old school Who had stories that spanned several episodes. It was nice to see old villains, but poorly used, weak plot and a waste of a new exciting Doctor/Companion paring. I really hope this series picks up soon, right now it is just clogging up my Sky box
If you can remain calm when all around you are panicking, you probably didn't understand the question

I'm talking specifically about the most recent episode and not the ones before, so when I say 'getting into' I'm not projecting too far back through the series. I'm also not going near the multi-episode issue since that boat sailed long ago. I may never be a fan of single episode stories but that appears to be what people believe they need to do in order to capture the modern viewer.

Having said all that, what I mean about the most recent story is that for the first time we're put in a situation where the main character isn't all powerful and 'right' al the time. he shows somne self doubt over the course of action he should take, he shows some sympathy to toward the antagonist who is so much more than just 'this weeks monster'.

It could all be blown apart next week, of course, but if just a little of the momentum gained with the last story can be maintained then I think we'll be the better for it.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.
