Interesting idea. I was trying to work out where I knew him from and (horrifyingly!) it turned out to be 'The Kennedy's' rather than the Batman film :( (Which shows how my wife's television influences play off in my life).

I don't know that I can say I've seen enough of him to get a feel for how he'd play it but he certainly has some age on his side, of which I'd approve.

I always remember him from 'The Full Monty' or from 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'.  My preference is for an older actor to be the doctor, but I doubt this will happen.

At the end of the day he's a young actor, he's left a great mark on the franchise he is a respected Dr and leaving on a high.

May well do yes. I also saw a pretty poorly filmed trailer for An adventure in time and space. Sounds fantastic but ill wait till I see the full version trailer before posting it.

So it looks like the new Doctor will be announced this Sunday at 7pm on BBC 1. Currently the listing is for a celebrity quiz show.

Now obviously lots of names are being banded around but I think that Peter Calpaldi could be in the top spot.
